Sethos walked with great haste up the steps of Charnel Hill, and crawled into one of the gaps in the hill face, into the labyrinth below. Navigating the caverns, almost in total darkness he moved swiftly as if all of Luna marched behind him. Weaving around the narrow and often sharp turns his mind wandered to just a few moments ago, when he and Drayek came upon Unity before the Cathedral.

“Follow me Drayek, Admoreth kept a certain number of Lab supplies in his quarters, I’m sure they can act as replacements” Sethos barked out amid a ruined lab, the result of little “accident” from the previous night.

With a nod she followed, but at the door of the Cathedral Unity stood, and as always after the pleasant formalities Drayek and Unity broke into a long and cryptic conversation. With a sigh Sethos sat upon the steps, too tired to disrupt, just then some sludge shifted on the Cathedral roof, falling and with splat landing on Sethos’ neck and shoulder, seeping through the seam of gorget touching his bare neck.

‘Damn It! By Oblivion Drayek have those slaves clean the gutters of the Umbran buildings! This is ridiculous!” Sethos barked out as his paranoia of dirt became ever more apparent as he tore off his gorget and doublet scratching at his bare neck and chest revealing a particularly interesting scar upon his lower neck.

Just then Unity grabbed Sethos...

“Hold still a moment” Unity asked.

‘What? Are you insane? Let go!” Sethos barked out.

“You know something of this Marking?” Drayek asked.

“Mmm Perhaps I do” Unity said ever so curiously.

With a whack Sethos pushed him away and barked in an almost high squeak of a voice “You know nothing…”

“You should be dead...” unity said, “I wish to know of your past”

Sethos, highly annoyed at the comments begin to weave another false story about his upbringing, but to no avail Unity knew he was lying now. Confronting him with this truth Sethos broke down becoming more and more erratic as Unity quizzed him about books and tables and robes, hands and eyes. All things that the two shared in common from years gone by.

There was no doubt in Sethos’ mind, somehow Unity knew more of his life and his “father” then he himself knew. Enraged Sethos perhaps for the first time since his arrival in Umbra was in a corner, and lost his composure, for the first time the boy seemed to act his age.

Sethos walked with great haste up the steps of Charnel Hill, and crawled into one of the gaps in the hill face, into the labyrinth below. Navigating the caverns, almost in total darkness he moved swiftly as if all of Luna marched behind him.

Finally reaching the Center of the maze he rested upon a pillar for a moment, closing his eyes briefly he collected his thoughts, and he felt it, the skull was watching Oblivion was watching.

Meanwhile atop Charnel Hill The skull, amid the silence of the Umbran night tremored for a moment, as its eye sockets filled with energy, Oblivion was at work.

Slowly Sethos opened his eyes and jumped back into the adjacent pillar with a shocked shriek of sorts…

Standing there, garbed from head to toe in fine robes, a hood covering a portion of its face stood an overpowering skeletal figure the energy within its eyes shining brightly through the shadow cast by the hood’s brim, looking down at Sethos laughing coldly.

“Impossible!” Sethos barked from the floor

Pausing amid its maniacal laughter the figure hushed. Looking down at the boy it reached out and Sethos reacted, grabbing a stone he quickly threw it at the Lich, whose form promptly de-materialized.

An illusion of the Skull…

Sethos stood up with great force, arching his head upward, his arms backward he began a scream horribly loud, losing control of his arcane energies the flash of energy expelled through his eyes sent an opaque light over the chamber, a few rats scurry away as his hands begin to release short burst of kinetic energy.

After a few moments falling to his knees, strands of long black hair trailing down his face Sethos begins to weep, it will be hours before he returns to the surface.
