The past few weeks spent helping out his parents in their store was good for Max. He had been able to relax for a time and let the world continue to move without becoming too caught up in the spin. He had made a few appearances, but kept a fairly low profile. News had come to him about Vaen's service as a mercenary, and the subsequent re-forming of the Legion of Justice and other less notable items from the political arena. Now that he was back at home, Max reminded himself smiling, a priority must be to send a note to Ceinwyn and schedule a dinner!
In an effort to return to the ALV with a nice transition from relaxation to action Max joined three of his guild mates in the Legion's boat race around Nujel'm. Although there were not many competitors the crew had much fun and came home victorious. Max had to chuckle at his slowly growing list of titles.
"Joust Champion and Commander of the Greatest Fleet in Sosaria." he said through some laughter, "Using those when signing my name will require a second piece of parchment!"
The time it took to look around the guild house making sure everything was in order gave Max the opportunity to devote some thought to a couple of other developments from Nujel'm last night.
Not understanding how word of this did not reach him sooner, Max was shocked to learn from Evoroth that the Order of the Ebon Skull had occupied Cove. The short distance between Vesper and Cove came to mind, and caused him to wonder if Vesper would be the next on the skullies' list.
"I need to send a letter to Lady Lia to find out what she knows about this" he thought to himself. "I believe a small excursion into Cove is in order for me this eve. I need to determine what the skullies' numbers are like, and if they have fortified the town." Having the Order so close to Vesper was unacceptable to Max, and he aimed to do something about it.
Finishing up with some reorganization, max brushed a few leaves off of his throne and took his familiar thinking seat on the roof. This next development was both relieving and troubling at the same time and required some more undivided attention.
Max had made it quite clear to Vaen just a few nights ago that he was troubled by Vaen's decision to sell his services as a hired sword. Vaen's request last night to reform an alliance between the ALV and the newly reformed Legion of Justice took max a bit by surprise, and he fudged his way around it by telling Vaen he “Needed to speak with the other Founders of the ALV.” Max knew all he did was buy some time, and he would have to give Vaen an answer in the near future. Perhaps Max could manage to stall the issue long enough for him to work out his concern over Vaen’s actions.
Rising from his throne Max shook his head in a mock gesture of emptying it of thoughts and moved his thinking back to his planned excursion into Cove this evening.
“Time to prepare and let the rest of the guild know where I will be…just in case I do not return.” He said solemnly. _________________ -Max of Vesper, Super Pally Perma NoOb. |
