A blanket of quiet fell over Nujel'm. The isle sat quite, patiently awaiting an action of any sort. Rufus stared from the windows of the Palace, looking out into a city that he controlled. Or did control before the night's end. His meeting with Lady Molly explained little, and settled just as much, but he had understand that he had placed himself in a position where his balance could not adjust or correct it. He attempted his best to defend the ideals and mannerisms of both Isk and Tai...and he felt he spoke of them justly. But still, he felt that his recent actions were too constricted. And in knowing what events transpired recently; knowing what would come of his alliance...Rufus debated on his next move.
Little footsteps could be heard, His son Ameer peered into the room, speaking softly, "Fa..father, I have gathereded my stuffs. Wha do you wish of me now?" Rufus extended his arm to his son, suggesting a hug. As Ameer approached his side, He wrapped his arm around the boy's shoulder, staring blankly at the stars that began to appear above the city. "Say your good-byes, my Son. We shall be leaving for the estate soon..." Ameer looked to him with wide eyes, and lowered his head a bit afterwards, and spoke softly, "An Lema, Amin sinta.. (Long Journey, I know...)" Rufus looked down to him with a single tear rolling just across the marking on his face, "Amin mela lle. Amin hiraetha ar' astald edain ilyamenie kuile a' alkar ar' corm. (I am sorry. I love you and great men awake to glory and heart.)" He paused for a moment, thinking as if he had lost the child in his words..."My Son, our time has exhausted here, and I know that to better ourselves...we must retire to another life...a thing that will mold us into greater men. Forgive me." Ameer bit his lip a bit and sighed, "I will ready my thingies some more..."
As Ameer exited, Rufus paced about the room, readying to send missives to both Tai and Isk, in regard to his decision. And finally, his writing began:
To my fellow Allies,
I will understand if this missive crafts a new image of myself, but I have gathered that I will retire from this affair prematurely. I will be leaving the Isle of Nujel'm, though it is rightly owned and entitled to the sisterhood and association of the Isle of Moonglow, it will stand vacant in my leaving. Tai, I do declare that you withdraw any troops you would send to halt it's claim, unless you hope to acquire it for your own reasons. I gather that Isk will offer input regarding this decision, and hold that in high regard while you decide upon what I have stated. I also withdraw my official status as leader of this Alliance of Island Nations, to further the life and spirituality of my family. I as to be forgiven for the inconveniences I have begun, but I feel that the path we have set upon is nay filled with the fruits we imagined. I pray that you both will continue with good wills and intentions. And with that I do end one of the most promising endeavors I have placed my hand in. I pray that Sisthnos and the gods above will offer their sanctuary while you continue this. Protect what is right, and remain the individuals that you are.

Rufus laid his feathered pen down, brushing the marking under his eye with his right hand. He awaited Sarah's response to it all, but she could not slow he and Ameer's movement toward their readied ship... _________________ "Balance - the harmony between the Principles of Order and Chaos...Harmony, Dedication and Rationality, the three Principles of Balance, are our highest ideals." |
