I bid you greetings.

Much time has passed since our first and only face-to-face meeting. That it was interrupted and nearly shipwrecked by the demagoguery of Duke Kotare is now only a faint memory. I have no ill feelings toward you nor the illustrious Royal Court of Luna, and I pray you have none toward me. It is difficult not to, I know, for the lies spread about me by jealous rivals proliferate like rabbits, and no doubt some of these have come to your ears. Dismiss them as quickly as I have dismissed those I have heard concerning you of late.

I do hope the Court will validate the claims of Lord Bailos and the enlightened Order of the Ebon Skull concerning their Protectorate of Sanctus. I have visited there myself, and have spoken directly to him, and others, expressing my earnest desire that the town be governed wisely and judiciously. I have seen first-hand that this has been entirely carried out. Know assuredly that its oversight is in good hands. If ancient prejudices are laid to rest, and baseless fears expunged, one can see the truth clearly: the Protectorate is an astounding success story. For once I was not accosted by some petty thief or jostled by a drunken peasant in the tavern or out in the streets, as they have been either arrested or run out of town. Such is the evidence of good government.

On another matter, it has come to my attention that a certain miscreant appeared at your Court proceedings last eve. One of my associates, Alicia, informed me that the drow female, Streea, the consort of Dharzhal T'Ar, whom I am looking for, begged asylum for them both. She no doubt spewed lies and typical drow venom, trying vainly to sway your mind in her favor and against me. I am sure you were not taken in by it.

Let me tell you what they have done. Against my express wishes, Dharzhal, a skilled alchemist, created a substance, a toxin, that could cause great harm to anyone who ingests it. It has only one cure, that which he made for it. The usual cure potions and spells have no effect whatsoever on it. He tested this substance out on me and Duke Kotare who is in my custody (awaiting a verdict on crimes against innocent orcs). He did this as he hates me most especially but also any and all humans and elves. I have been cured, having found a hidden cache of the restorative in his home, and am currently seeking to find the rest so that the Duke can be saved from a terrible fate.

What I am asking is this: detain those two. If you will either imprison them, or keep them under close watch, until I can take charge of them, I will reward you greatly. I am prepared to give you one hundred thousand gold coins for each of them; that is, two hundred thousand gold for both. And on top of that, I will owe you a favor that you may call due at any time, for any reason or purpose.

Please do not disregard my appeal. There is much we can both do to make our governments stronger, peaceful, and more secure. Incarcerating and extraditing criminals such as these, on behalf of one another, is a vital element in the process, as you well know.

Dear Lord Thrax,

These people you mentioned did indeed come to the Royal Court. I have not seen them since that evening. If I see them again I will be sure to speak to them on the matter in which you have discribed.

On the subject of your associate, she was rather illmannered while at the Royal Court meeting and drew her weapon attempting to attack the woman you discribed. Should she attempt to do such again she will be jailed until you can come and retrieve her and will be fined for disturbing the peace and attempted assault. I would hate for that to happen.

As for your observance in Sanctus proper, did you have opportunity to see the wall that is being erected? I am unsure that the true purpose was stated by Balios. Once he has walled in the citizens or walled out the rest of the realm who knows what actions he might take upon those that are sealed within. I will hold my openion on the matter until such time as I have the opportunity to speak to the citizens and travel the roads through the city.
