Rufus takes in a deep breath as he dips his feathered pen in the black Ink. Just as the tip of the pen touches the parchment, he exhales; allowing his heavy breath to dry the very first word that graces the page. In the last several hours, he had spoken with Lord Isk, Magnate of Magincia, and Lord Tai Kwan Otori, Daimyo of Zento. Things had finally become official, and their alliance would formally move forward. Rufus felt deep within his heart, that this was the right decision. He felt that it would form a grand and united stand against all challengers, and only see that the Isles involved would flourish and grow. But, his deepest concern was that in their differing ideals, would commotion arise? It seemed that his first order of Business would bring his concerns to reality...
He began to scribble upon the parchment, pausing periodically to search for the proper words. For he prayed that he could craft this declaration without offending its audience. The candles burned low as time passed, and Rufus grew tired. So perhaps, there was no way around the course missive, and with his signature, he would place a hand in something he felt uncomfortable with:
To Lady Molly,
It does pain me to send ye a missive of this type. It would seem that my companions within the Alliance of Island Nations do not hold the most wholesome opinion of you. I cannot say that I hold the same feelings, but in being a substantial part of this Alliance and its official leader; before any harsh or rash measures were taken by either Lord Isk or Tai Kwan Otori, I hoped to send a missive stating that I wish not for an act of physical aggression to you and your order while I remain a part of this Alliance. I fear I could not find the words to craft this missive in a gentler manner, but it seems that the only available words are the ones that have been placed upon this parchment. You and I have had a long lasting friendship, and at times been at odds on disagreeing ends, but I wish nay a bit of harm to come to either of our allies or friends in this matter. Still it bothers me that I must pass such a thing on. As our first order of Business, we have declared an enemy in You and the House of The Gauntlet. If there are any concerns or words you wish to share with me, I plead that you contact me directly; through missive or through Bird.
Be Well Upon Thy Path,
Rufus Oryan

*She had just sent her men to prepare for a meeting with a stranger when the message arrived. She stared at it and at the signature upon it. Her face showed her disbelief.*
Why? *she said out loud* Isk must have some underhanded part in this. My dispute with Tai was settled long ago and Rufus and I have always been friends. This makes no sense.
*She sits at her desk and begins to write a letter to Rufus.*
Rufus,
What in Sosaria is going on here. You must explain your stance and why this action was felt necessary. I have had little to no correspondence with any involved in months and months. How could we have offended to the point of this action.
Meet with me.
Your friend still I hope.
