|
Kotare sat quietly in the corner of his dark cell. The Obsidian stone wall, litered with dangling chains and clamps, was all that filled the room. The occasional hiss from the far corner is all that seemed to break the silence. The room was often unbearable. The stench from the decay of bodies has long lingered in his cell. It was in the air, on his clothes and it began to cling to his skin. On occasion, a rat would be bold enough to venture out from a small crevis in the wall. But, it was just as quick to dash back in at the sign of the serpents intrest. It took everything within Kotare's mind to overcome and adapt. But, this was not war. He was a prisoner of war. His duties led him to this fate. A fate that he wouldn't wish upon even those he hated the most.
He would think back to times when he was happiest. His marriage to his beautiful wife. The time's at Poet's Garden, even the victory over the many evils that he had endured all these years. But even the pleasant memories faded to much darker ones. Images from his past begin to haunt him. Though he has no memory of them, he sees them as if they happened right before his own eyes. Images of death, as well as creation. Even an image of himself brooding a great loss. But even the loss remains elusive. It brings back lost feelings and hatred. But, the most dreaded feeling that the silence has brought to him.....was the feeling of being away from those he loved.
Deep down he thinks to himself. "Thrax wants me alive. Why go through all this trouble to capture me and keep me here. If he wanted me dead, he's had plenty of chances to do so already." His thoughts drift to anger and for a moment, he felt the burning of his blood, the bulging of his vains and the room even seemed to be all the more bearable. Yet, calm is quick to pour over him. He once again comes to his senses. Curious, terrified and shocked and what he just experienced. He examines the chain attached to his wrist. Much to his suprise, a thick link has bent slightly. Though still not enough to break free, it gave him yet one more reason to fear the unknown reasons of his imprisonment. |
