Mallory found herself within the city of Luna and remembered quickly why she had spent very little time here. There were so many people and the everyday hustle and bustle was quite noisy and dusty. She had quickly found work within the city copying scrolls for the local mage. It appeared her timing was actually perfect. The girl who had worked her previously was called back home as her mother had taken ill suddenly. In exchange for her copying the much requested scrolls, she is rewarded with room and board within the inn as well as a few gold coins for each scroll. It was an easy way to make a living, but she missed her family and the Garden terribly.

Many days Mallory would wake up early before the crowds made their way to the city and she would gather her supplies and make her way to the quiet little pond she had found in Ilshenar. The soothing gurgle of the underwater stream as well as the enchanting melody of the nearby pixies soothed her heart and soul. Spring had come and gone and summer was quickly approaching. Many things had changed for Mallory. Her 20th birthday had come and gone and she was no longer the carefree girl, but now a young woman. She had fallen in love and experienced her first heartbreak. She had shared in the joy as her best friend wed and started a life with the man she loved. Most recently she had experienced great sorrow and loss with the only man she truly had known as her father, as well as the place she had called home for the last few years. He had been the one who made her know she was special and helped her become the butterfly she was. She smiled as she recalled how he would call her that.

She set her scrolls to the side and watched the water and slowly two unicorns came to drink from the water. They were used to seeing Mallory there and they were not scared of her in the slightest. Mallory noticed a very young unicorn standing in the thrush eyeing her cautiously. She sat very still and watched as he approached her. He made his way over to her, and curiously smelled her clothes. She giggled as his warm breath tickled her ear and he jumped a bit started by the new sound. Mallory laid her hand out and gently caressed the young unicorns neck. He slowly made his way back to his mothers side and began munching on the grass. Mallory sighed softly and looked back at the pond and her thoughts again drifted to The Garden and Mister Poet.

To so many he had been more than just a tavern owner. Never afraid to hike up his kilt and apply a boot to the head when someone needed his aid. His heart was larger than that of the biggest bear, and many fondly referred to him as Poppa Bear. She remembered when she had first met him, when her friend Cat had brought her to live and work at the tavern. She had never experienced such kindness as she found from him. He truly welcomed her into the family there. What a family! Zezal, she sighed softly as she thought of her first friend. They had spent much time together in the kitchen laughing and tossing flour at each other. There was also Scribble. Tough as nails at times, but to those who knew her... sweet as the purest honey in the spring. There was Cat... never could eat her cooking, but she could always make ya smile. Rryn... they were fast friends... nay... sisters. Their bond would never break. Then there was Dan. She was saddened by his sudden departure and when he returned... she was happy he had come back. There were so many others who had become her family there. The little boys Athlon and Auris... they were so dear to her. They loved Mister Poets stories... Storyman they called him.

She wished there was a way she could get everyone together to remember the great man and all he had done. She suddenly sat up, startling the unicorns a bit. She pulled out a piece of parchment and began to write...

To the Honorable Tai Kwan Leap of the Otori Clan (she hoped she had addressed that correctly)
I hope that this letter finds both you and your wife well. I am sure you are both mourning the loss of our mutual friend Mister Poet. The thought came to me, that we should hold a memorial service where all of those that knew him could gather and remember him and honor him. I am afraid however, I am not familiar in how to do this and was hoping I could ask for your assistance. Please contact me as soon as you are able to meet. I can be found most often in Luna, and I am currently employed in the mage shop there.

Your friend in Virtue,
Mallory Rowdep

Mallory allowed the parchment to dry and picked a few of the nearby flowers and folded them up with the letter. Surely Rryn would understand them and enjoy their beauty. She rose from her spot and brushed off her skirt. She picked up her sack and said goodby to her little retreat and made her way to Luna to find a messenger to deliver her letter to Tai on the Tokuno Islands.
