There was nothing left.
...nothing...
Dan has just returned from his errand, with a bookstrap of 4 new books to write in, when there before him stood but only the rubble and remains of the only thing left of what he had called home. Shocked and torn, he dropped his books, gripped the handle of his sheath tightly, and walked up onto the ruins as teardrops rolled down his cheeks. As he walked up onto what was once the doorstep, where at a happy time he could hear the cheers and mayhem of what he had thought his foster family resided...was wiped from his mind through the cruel reality of what he saw before him.
Having that been the only reason for his returning in the first place, where could Dan go now? He gritted his teeth and the thought, with questions beginning to swarm through his mind. "Where could he venture off to and know that he had a place to return with warm and welcome arms? Where would he go to join his friends in a drink? And, almost humorous, where would he duel his rivals whom he held dearest to him? The answer was all but obvious...
...nothing...
"And here I stand, with another part of my life torn and lost to me", he spoke as had knelt down to pick up a fractured mug from the rubble. "This is all there is left to remember you by, dear friend"
Standing up, he looked off into east, towards the misty forests of crystals and creatures. He had none to blame but himself, for having letting Poet get as sick as he had which lead to his death. Seeming as though he was forced to get up upon his feet and travel again, there was only once place that the community he had known had migrated to.
"Zento"
And with that, he stepped off into the grass, slipped the mug and his books into his pack, and headed out the destination which had seemed to eluded him for quite some time. Knowing of his comrade Tai, and his mighty guild out in the Tokuno Islands, he set off without any second thought.
Again, Dan had left. |
