Grig'nag lumbered quiety amongst the trees of Greater Yew. Things were so dull these days. So very tired and gloomy. And as time passed, Grig'nag felt he could sleep no longer. He wasn't getting in younger... or healthier. Having gone into hibernation like so many of the others, Grig'nag had found himself unable to remaine asleep. His sickness was too far along. Besides, he never liked to sleep so much anyway.
Coming across the community boards of Yew, he found the boards overflowing with announcements, old and new. It was obvious that Tir'og hadn't been this way... in a very long time. Grig'nag sighed and painfully lumbered towards the board. He tore down the notes indiscrimately, seeking only to clean up the garbage that the humans posted all over the place. He would only pause to look at familiar insignias or signatures. After sometime he came across a signature he recognized. Vaen Swiftar. Ah yes... it had been some time since he had last talked to, let alone fought Vaen. Grig found himself wondering what the old boy was up to. Looking back at the notice he realized that the emblem of the Legion was not on it. Grig looked the notice over curiously before reading the note.
"Su... da Lejun ib nub muur?" Grig asked himself. "Hrk. Figurs. Wib awl da Orcs hibernatun, und da Detties duin liddul, dems hab nubting lebt tu klump fur. Guezz ib meks senze dat dey luuk fur bettah tings tu du wib dems time."
Grig'nag begin to muse to himself about all the times he had spent against Vaen and the Legion. Rachel...Valatin... all the old gang. At times like this, Grig actually found himself somewhat lonely. He hadn't heard from any of them in awhile. Perhaps it was time to say hello? Before Grig could finish his thought a convulsive fit of coughs ran through him, finally ending with a small puddle of bloody phlegm at his feet.
"Perhapz nub 'Ugh' tu dems... bud raddur... 'Gar'."
Standing straight Grig started to remember who he was. At times he and Vaen had acted like friends, almost brothers. It had been a simple connection the two had felt, both being practical slaves to their warrior spirits, but it had been there all the same. Vaen had been a friend at times and an ally. In times of need they had helped each other... Even humans and Orcs could sometimes get along, if the circumstances were right. Vaen had taught Grig that much. Nevertheless, Vaen was and always would be a foe. The Legion of Justice was gone. Perhaps not by Stormreaver hands, but still it was gone. The Orcs of old had had their foes. The Britainian Guard and the Order of the Serpant. They had battled with the OES and been allies with them. So many other battles and other foes. Grig had never known those battles. He had had his battles with the elves and with the Hand of Humanis. But his true war had always been with the Legion. Now that the Legion was over... was his time gone as well?
Grig'nag unsheathed with cutlass and looked it over. No. There were still a few things left to do. His battles with the Legion had been his battle and had been his calling. Perhaps the end of the Legion DID usher in the end of his generation, but not quite yet the end of his life.
"Vaen" Grig croaked quietly. "Weeb hab sum unfinushed biznezz. Meeb kum fur ju suun." With that Grig'nag restarted his slow lumber into the mists of Yew. He would go face Vaen one last time. His chance to seal away his warrior spirit in another warrior. But not yet. There we things to be done. People to see... and kill. It all had to be done one last time. But it would all come back to Vaen. He would finally finish what was begun so long ago, in the hallows of the little nation known as the Crystal Fens.
"Wayt fur meeb Vaen... meeb kum fur ju.... suun." _________________ Femmies?! Howwah!!
Can't we all just get along? No? Excellent. |
