Brianha reflected on the events of the fair. She enjoyed herself but was disturbed during the auction when she noticed Khaliage Shade staring at her. That brought her thoughts back to her first meeting with him at Poet’s.

She had been enjoying herself that night, and even had good conversation with him, until he revealed what evil thoughts and deeds he was capable of. She shivered thinking of the women he must have lured away with the promise of a painted likeness of themselves. It was disgusting to think that he would tear his victims apart and then use their blood as his paint. What a monster.

He seemed to be enjoying his encounters with her as if he knew she was disturbed and sickened by the very sight of him. She lay awake tossing and turning, unable to keep the disturbing images out of her head.

Seeing him at the fair grounds, she wondered about his intentions at the auction, and she was thankful that Vaen had made a bid at such a high price. She knew she would have to object had he prevailed in his bidding, and was relieved she did not have to.

Still tossing and turning Brianha wished she had Vaen to comfort her right now. She felt so cold with these thoughts. Finally giving in to the realization that she would not rest this night, she tied her robe around her slender waist and went downstairs to brew something to warm her.
