His blade sliced through the air over the mages head. Mave's attacks and parrys were a dance that he had practiced and knew well. As his blade was parried aside by the mage's warfork, lightening began to crackle on the outstretched fingers of the mage's other hand. Quickly, Mave called on abilities learned in his time away, bringing his blade around in front of the thundering bolt, watching in satisfaction as it fizzled when it struck.

Smiling grimly, Mave attacked again as the battle continued. The opponents seemed harder now, more versed in other schools and hidden arts. He had returned to find a land seemingly in chaos. Some influential groups were gone, while others remained but almost in a stalemate with the world around them, and everywhere he saw evil. He saw the murderers running rampant, and though this had been a problem before, it seemed even more so now. He saw groups of light aplenty, but groups of evil that seemingly were being tolerated. He heard rumors of kidnappings, killings, and other unspeakable happenings, not to mention that the group called the Order of the Ebon Skull, still survived. What dire actions they had been taking while he was away he did not know, and was not sure he wished to know.

Quickly Mave spun as a magic arrow whizzed by his head. Bringing his mind back to the situation at hand, he saw his opening. Bringing his weapon in overhead as he had done before, the mage parried it again. Yet this time, the mage was in the middle of a more intricate spell, requiring more time. Something of a flame nature Mave guessed as his free hand reached around his back, pulling a hatchet out of his belt. This time there was no quick spell to divert his attack and he swung the hatchet up, slicing through the mages lower jaw, disrupting his spell casting. A quick following strike and the battle was over.

Wiping the blood from his weapons, Mave looked around.

"I can no longer stand alone and hope to have an impact." he said to himself and to his steed Wind that stood beside him. "And there isn't time to try to gather others to me. I will go where I believe the most good can be done. I believe that the Legion of Justice still fight for a just cause. I will seek to help them."

Arriving at his keep, Mave calls for ink and parchment.

Quote:
Lord Swiftar and the Legion of Justice Council,

You may remember me from our previous meetings when I was the ruling Lord of the Dark Order. I write you now as a person who, through many trials in a distant land, realized that he had let himself begin to slip away for personal reasons. My want for conquest, especially for that of my beloved birthplace of Luna, blinded me to the true path that The Dark Order had taken. The Dark Order is gone now, and I have returned to find a land that seems to have no sense of itself. I wish to help bring a measure of decency and goodness back to this land, as I believe you and your men do. I have always lived my life with Honor, and I hope Lord Swiftar, that even when we were previously at odds, you saw this. I wish to bring this Honor and couple it with your Justice and help to stem the tide of evil and chaos that seems to be creeping through the land. I have been a master of men, and a wanderer in the wild, and I now offer my services and my sword to you and your company. I have realized that I can no longer stand alone, but must join with others in an effort to obtain order in this land. I now leave this decision in the hands of you and your council.

With Honor,
*signed with a flourish*
Lord Mave Gerhart

*letter sealed with the stamp of House Gerhart*

Handing the letter to his servant, Mave said, "Stay with Lord Swiftar to receive a reply, no matter the wait, and then bring it back to me."

With a bow the servant ran out the door to the stables.

"Now we shall see what the future holds" Mave said to himself as he sat down in front of the fireplace and began sharpening his blades...

Leshok walked through the stronghold wondering and hoping of Vaen's search for Valatin and Rachel, and Vaen's request Leshok take head seat in his absence when the messenger arrived. Leshok read over the message remembering the man briefly, and penned a response.

Quote:
Lord Gerhart,

Greetings sir, at this time Vaen is away on personal business, so I, Leshok Majere, of the Legion council am addressing your letter. Respectable your intentions are and the council will discuss your joining and return word to you as soon as we can. To hear from you soon sir.

The servant returned and handed the response to Mave.

Reading the letter, Mave slowly nodded to himself.

"Now we wait"

Alessandra made her way to Legion Island to find if there had been any word from Vaen as to whether he had found Lady Rachel and Sir Valatin. She didn't know Valatin well, but she and Rachel had become friends and she was missed. She knew that Vaen missed them more than anyone, they were like his family. It was the same as when Mave had left. She was so happy he had returned.

As she arrived she found Leshok reading a note and he looked up and smiled. She asked if it was word from Vaen. He shook his head and handed her the letter to read for herself. She scanned over it and a smile came to her face. They had spent a good deal f time together and he seemed genuinely interested in the group she now called family, and while she had felt that he would enjoy it with them as well, she knew that it was a decision he would have to make himself. She remembered when they had been in the Dark Order together. He was always a good friend and a wonderful leader. He would make a great addition to the Legion.

She handed the letter back to Leshok and told him her thoughts on the matter. He nodded and appreciated her opinion, as she too had recently been promoted to council.

On her return home, Alessandra went to her study area and pulled out a piece of parchment and began writing..

To Lord Gerhart, Knight of Dark Cove

My friend, I hope that this letter finds you well and in good spirits. I am very pleased to hear that you are interested in joining the Legion. I remember our times together in Dark Cove, and I am looking forward to having you by my side again. I am writing to find out if you will be available for dinner sometime this week, as we still have so much to catch up on. I look forward to your response.

In Justice,
Alessandra

She tied the parchment up and took it herself to Dark Cove and left it with Mave's servant and returned home to await a reply...

Leshok nodded having heard the word from all the council members, Mave was in.

Dear Sir Mave,

Congratulations Sir, the council has approved you as an addition to the Legion. Tomorrow night, we have a formal dinner in Nujelm in Felucca, a perfect time for you to get better aquainted with us. Walk with truth and honor sir.

-Leshok Majere

As Mave walked up the steps to his keep, his servant ran out holding a number of parchments.

"Letters for you m'Lord" he said with a slight bow.

Nodding in thanks, Mave took the letters and went to sit at his desk. Opening the first, he recognized Alessandra's flowing handwriting and smiled as he looked over it.

After reading it, he then opened the next letter, from a Legion Council member known as Leshok. His smile remained as he looked over the second letter.

Calling his servant over, Mave gave him instructions.

"Go to Legion Island first and see if you can find out the time of this dinner tomorrow night. If it is a time that I can attend, we will then see if Lady Alessandra would like to get together to catch up after the dinner."

With a smile and a nod, the servant slipped out the door towards the stables, happy with the thought of his master ending his seclusion.
