Wisdom is often gained by experience. Famous words Kotare's mother once told him ages ago. He didn't know why he all of the sudden started to remember his past. But they were not unplesant memories. His favorite memory came to him when he recalled the storry of the fox and the wolf. A story his mother shared with him and his siblings well over 300 years ago.

He tried his best to remember it in his mothers voice. A voice that faded a bit more each day.

*womanly voice* The story of the Fox and the Wolf.

Once upon a time, there lived a Fox. He had golden red fur and a bright white tail. But The fox was not known for his good looks. Rather for his cunning mind. Trough out the woods, no other creature could out wit the little fox. He was fast, he was smart and he was friendly to all the smaller woodland creatures. but most of all, he loved to brag about his mind.

One day, a wolf was passing through and captured the little fox. The Fox begged for his life. But the wolf was hungry. Finally, the little fox said, "If you let me go, I will show you where the Rabbits live." The Wolf was really hungry but would not pass up this chance. "Lead on" said the wolf. The fox scampered through the woods to a hollowed out tree. The fox pointed to it and said. "In there! in there!" The Wolf, sure that this was one of the Fox's Tricks told the fox, "You go in and tell them to come out one at a time. If they don't, I'll come in there to eat all of you." The Fox nodded and scampered into the hallowed out tree.

Minutes went by and still no sign of the fox or rabbits. The Wolf's Stomach was beginning to rumble. But the rumbling wasn't loud enough to cover the snickering he heard comming from inside the hallowed tree.
"Thats it! I'm comming in to eat you all!" said the wolf. The Wolf began digging his way into the little hole. He worked hard and was half way in when he reached into the darkness. He felt something furry, and yelled "GOTCHA!

*spray sound*

Seconds later the Wolf was struggling out of the hole and was running for dear life. A Skunk then came out of the hole and the fox, with his paw on his nose, followed soon after. The fox thanked the skunk and went on his way. From that day on, no man or beast messed with the smelly little fox who was last seen taking a bath in the pond nearby.

*womans voice fades*

As he has come to recollect the story, he now realized what his mother tried telling him all those many years ago.

Bragging brings unwanted attention. Wisdom often negates the need to run and alliances often keep larger predators away.

Looking down, Kotare did his best to keep his composure. He was all that remained of his bloodline. His parents long have passed on. His siblings no longer with him. All he had were the memories of them. One by one, they were fading with age.
