As Isk was writing the letter he replayed in his mind the image of Molly at the arraignment. Clearly the ordeal stressed her spirits, she was losing hair even though her face remained emotionless. The leader of Luna’s alliance was being cursed by his gypsy wife so that Molly’s discomfort would take away from her testimonies. While Molly was preoccupied with her hair Isk’s most skilled lawyer, Cuthbert, was almost able to stop the trial from ever happening with a dazzling legal manoeuver which sadly fell on deaf ears. But Isk expected such, he knew that the people in Yew were a different breed. The citizens of Yew (In Isk’s mind) chewed on straw and spoke slowly, they played more than they worked and thus lacked the sophistication of cultured Magincians.

“The sticks” Isk used the derogatory term for Yew as he handed the finished letter to his task runner. “Deliver this to Itannar and be kind.”

The letter reads:

While my defence is throughly disappointed with your decision to go on with the trial given the evidence we presented to you, I would never the less wish to express my appreciation for having you as the sole judge. I know that you will not be biassed and that you will carry out the trial evenhandedly. As a token of respect for your station my wife has put together a fantastic gift for your enjoyment. Please let me know by means of a pigeon when you can be available to receive this most deserving gift.
