After an incredibly long day working with the healers in Moonglow, Mallory went upstairs to the roof of the Garden and made herself a cup of strong green tea and her thoughts began to wander... Only a week ago she had learned that her beloved Vaen was not dead... but was alive. She at first did not know whether to believe it or not. She pinched herself when he appeared to make sure she was not dreaming... She had reached out very carefully to touch his robe, fearful that like in her dreams, as soon as she touched him he would dissapear again. But, no... this tim ehe remained, and even Miss Rachel had smiled and assured her that yes, he was real. She watched in amazement as he laughed and joked with his guildmates and friends, as though nothing had ever happened. Her second thought was why he had not let her know that he was alive... perhaps his feeling for her had changed, but when she looked at him and their eyes met she knew at once that this was not the case. She went to him, and soon was holding him close, just as she had prayed for for what seemed like a lifetime. He explained to her what had happened in the abyss, and how he was now obligated to serve and protect those called the True Brittanians. She nodded, but in truth did not understand why he would once again have to be in the way of harm. After such a long and emotional night she excused herself, and told Vaen she would see him again soon. Unfortunately it had not happened, between his obligations and her training, their schedules just had not allowed for any time just the tow of them. She decided that it was time to remedy that and went at once to Mister Poet's office and knocked to make sure she wouldn't be interrupting anyone. She entered and took a piece of parchment from the pile and began writing...

My dearest Vaen,

I do hope that this letter finds you well, both in health and spirit. I miss you so much that often I think my heart is tearing into two, just so part of it can be with you. I cannot believe that it has only been a week since we have seen each other, for it seems much longer... When you were in the abyss, there was nothing I could think of other than you, and praying to the virtues that somehow you would come back… to me. My prayers have been answered, and although we are still apart, knowing you are alive once again makes my heart soar with joy.
There is not a minute of my day that you are not on my mind and in my heart. When you're near, I feel safe and secure, but when you're away, I feel as if a part of my world is missing. Since you have returned, I've looked forward to every day, with the hopes that we will once again be together. Thinking of you is what gets me through every day, even when the day seems as though it will never end. I know that our lives are both incredibly busy, you with your promise to serve and protect and mine to learn the arts of healing, but there's nothing that I look forward to more than spending time with you. Please let me know when you will have time, and perhaps we can once again return to that walk we never finished, so long ago…

I love you.

Mallory Rowdep

She tied the parchment with a pink and a green ribbon and sent it with a young messenger with a few cookies, both for him and Vaen. She went back upstairs and drank her tea and hoped that a response would come soon before she had to go back to the healers...

Vaen woke in the morning to his pigeon flying around his room, knocking over potted plants and pictures. Vaen jumped out of bed, startled, only to see the pigeon flying around in a chaotic manner.

"What are you doing?!" Vaen yelled as he grabbed the Pigeon's feet and took the message. "I don't know what's got into you." Vaen looked at the Pigeon's mouth which seemed to be covered in chocolate.

The pigeon tilted his head and fluttered his wings, and then flew to the window and waited. Vaen shook his head. He then looked down at the note and saw that it was from Mallory. Vaen smiled and sat down to read.

After reading, he began to write a letter in return.

Mallory,

It is very good to hear from you. I am sorry that we haven't had much time together. I would like to see you today, though, if that is at all possible. We have much to talk about, I should think, and I can't wait to spend even just a few minutes with you, if that is all you can spare.

Love,
Vaen

He tied the note in a bandage, since that was all he had around him, and gave it to the pigeon to deliver to Mallory
