Tired, worn and thinner then normal. Rumnim Keress stood in the roof top garden looking out over the small stretch of land and then the expanse of flickering lights.

Everything seemed darker to her now and she couldn't get rid of the nagging feeling something was wrong. She was sure this was why she was always tired.

Molly had stopped talking to her, the Druids had even cornered her on how Molly was feeling. Rumnim could tell them nothing, yet again she has been shut out of everything. How could she care for anyone if they wouldn't tell her what was wrong?

Pacing back and forth through now wilted plants, so unlike her and Black to let them go like that. But right now they were of little concern. Bella was back and she seemed different. Occupied, she too wouldn't really tell Rumnim anything either. Whatever happened to her while she had been missing, she wasn't saying anything to anyone about. But Bella spent too much time at Poet's lately. Ever since she found out that she could walk there. Coming home drunk, being unbearable to her sisters. Minerva was even talking about banning Bella from the family home to see if she's learn her lesson.

Nothing seems write. Rumnim had found bottle of liquer about the house with Poet's seal on it. She knew Bella was bringing them home with her.

No one else within the House of the Gauntlet ever really spoke with Rumnim. She knew it had to do with the discovery. They didn't know how to deal with her.

Rumnim herself was only learning how different she was, how forgien everything was to her. Birthday parties, weddings and other events that seem to be normal ceremonies that are taken for granted. She did know anything about them and they all seemed so bizzare to her.

Thoughts of leaving the House of Gauntlet had come to her mind, but where would she go? Rumnim didn't know how to care for herself if she were attacked. She needed help, but from whom?

Maelwyn sat in the Druid Retreat, looking around at the other druids. Her mind kept wandering back to what she had learned at Poet's Garden. She had asked Molly how her eyes were doing. Molly had complained of occasional itching, and it seemed to Maelwyn that the eyes were proving a bit bothersome to Molly. yet, she figured Molly would love them so much she may not be willing to have them healed or cleansed if the situation called for it, until it was too late. And Maelwyn hated leaving a problem until it was too late. If you leave a bad plant that you discover as a sapling to grow until it is too late, you get a tree that blocks the sun from 50 other good plants that need its nourishment.

As they were leaving Lord Malo's wedding, she and Lord Tavish discovered Rumnim, the construct. Normally, Maelwyn would have put a golem such as Rumnim to rest, permanently. But Rumnim was different from others like herself. She was more like the natural living creatures of the earth. She had emotions and feelings. It seemed her parts all had memories of their former lives. And currently, she was with Molly, as some sort of guide or other such purpose. So, Maelwyn began asking various questions about Molly's state of health. Rumnim confessed an uneasiness about Molly's condition. She spoke of her fear about Molly ignoring this problem. Maelwyn began thinking, there's more to thus than anyone's letting on....
Maelwyn assured Rumnim that friendly faces would watch over Molly, in addition to whomever would be beside her through her days. This comforted Rumnim, while Maelwyn and Lord Tavish set off for the solitude of the woods.

Now, at one of their weekly gatherings, she put forth the problem to her fellow druids. They discussed possible causes of the problem, they discussed various treatments of the situation. But one thing was certain, they could not go jumping to conclusions about whatever the true problem was. They needed to study it, and then deal accordingly. Maelwyn was half certain that Molly would thank them for any assistance, and then turn it away. She had done so at the tavern, when Maelwyn had prescribed a rinse of boiled and cooled bloodmoss for the itching in her eyes.

Kung-Li addressed the situation.
"Mayhaps she could be asleep while we have the Forest Lord bless her and cleanse the eyes with a holy ritual?"

Maelwyn agreed that if they were forced to, that may be the way to do things.

"What I am truly affraid of, is that the gift of sight may not have come willingly from another creature, as I was led at first to believe. This would then be the root of our problems. Until I know more about the procedure they used, I am afraid all we can do is watch and wait."

Maelwyn then stood up and walked to the edge of the roof, and chittered to the trees. Presently, Sorrel, her squirrel ambassador, came bounding over through the branches. Chittering more, she described the situation in brief to the little fluffball. He was happy to be of assistance, he and his squirrelmates, and set off at once to keep a friendly eye on Lady Molly.

Maelwyn turned back to the druids gathered there. Looking at each in turn, Malikhia, Roland, Kung-Li, Jarik, Olist, and Tavish. She could feel the beginnings of trouble, and knew they could all feel it as well. They would have to be prepared for any problem, of course. But for now, all they could do was wait.

Rumnim sat on the second floor of the house, she could hear Minerva banging rythmnicly at something metalic below her.

What was wrong with Molly? She couldn't approach her at all to talk to her. Molly was just so wrapped up in other things and oblivious of anything she didn't want.

She wouldn't talk about the problems with her eyes. She came late to the wedding. Molly took credit for the present Rumnim had had Minerva make. She didn't even try to make the present from the House. It would have hurt less if she had. Then she avoided Rum through the wedding.

So Rum left as quickly as she could. Her mind and heart were too sick to stay near. The Druids were more interested in Molly. Proving to Rum only that people got treated better then things did. Oh they were nice. But they were concerned only about Molly.

Sighing, she probably would have to have Minerva to take in her armour and clothing again, before she left. No one would notice.

Rubbing her eyes gently she began to feel slight pain behind them as if sand were grinding against flesh. She had just awakened and was surprised that they were still bothering her and more than the night before. She walked to the mirror and looked into the reflection at her eyes. They looked all right but something was wrong. Her vision was not as clear as it had been in the past weeks since she received the gift of her sight at the shrine.

Once again she pondered the evening before, at the wedding. She had arrived late because her eyes were burning so badly she had to bathe them in the elven fountain in her home. The waters soothed and cooled the burn. When she arrived her site was so blurred she could not find Rum even though she knew she was there. When Rum came to her, she had brought a gift for the wedding couple. She told her about it and showed it to her but Molly could not see it clearly I was a full set of tableware, but to her it looked like a blur. Molly was embarrassed because she had forgotten to bring one from the House of the Gauntlet, she had been so panicked about her eyes, that she left it sitting in the great hall and walked off without it. When Rum told her she had one she asked Rum if it could be from the House of the Gauntlet. Rum said that was all right but if she had her wits about her she might have heard the disappointment in Rum's voice but she didn't even notice it until now as she mulled over the past days events.

So much on her mind and she was neglecting her duties because of her eyes again...She could not let that happen...

She picked up a quill and the inkwell and began to write a note to Rum.

Dearest Rum,

I am very sorry that I was remiss in thanking you for giving the wedding couple a gift in the name of the House of the Gauntlet. I wish to speak with you as soon as you are able to come over. I need to discuss something with you and I hope you will be able to help.

Yours in friendship,

Molly

She would ask Rum if she knew of anything that could help her. She was able to help her before, could she do something again? She hoped so. Should she contact Maelwyn and Alizia again? They had done so much already. Alizia had given up her family for her. She could not ask her to do more. She didn't have the heart to tell Martin that her eyes were bothering her and if she kept them bathed in the fountain as necessary it should be alright...she hoped...

Rumnim had recieved a letter from Molly, two days after she'd made the decision to resign from the guild. Bella had been so angry and Rumnim felt she was being persuaded by others to leave anyways. It was only a matter of time before people figured out that Bella and the Garden's cook weren't just flirting with each other.
But Rumnim had to think about things. Molly was again calling for help, but when Rumnim was in need of things. Strangers were quick to point out that none were there for her, even them. She'd found many things out of her realm of knowledge, which seemed to be assumed knowledge by everyone else.
Rumnim decided she'd talk to Molly, but she wouldn't return to the guild. Rumnim needed some sort of help and she decided she'd have to find some other place to look for it.

Sorrel sat on Molly's windowsill, watching her distress. He noted her disturbed behavior and the way she kept rubbing her eyes. He wished he could do something to ease her, but he was just a squirrel. Even if he could help her, he didn't know if he could help her enough.

Sorrel's mind wandered. All he really knew about was nuts, trees, female squirrels, and hibernation. Hibernation...

'What all my fellow squirrels are doing right now!' he thought.

But not us of the QuickenTree branch of the family! He puffed his chest up proudly. We are official! We shall keep watch over the Lady Molly, and tell the good druids if she needs help!

Full of pride and loyalty, he sat at his post on Molly's windowsill, watching her woe and determination. The druids already knew of her discomfort, unless the situation worsened, he would stay here, watching after her. He watched over her in her daily activities, and when he slept, one of his young squirrels watched in his stead. When Lady Molly would misplace an object, without her knowing, they would push it within reach for her, so she could locate it quickly, seemingly on her own. It seemed to be relieving some of her stress, but not a great deal. And Sorrel knew that eventually, the situation would worsen, unfortunately.

But what was a squirrel to do?

The Ball was over and she was heading bed, after a short trip to Poet's to thank him personally for the help that evening. He jokingly shoved her through the return gate and she caught her balance almost stepping on a small creature. She could not see it well as it was dark. She cast a small fireball of light and heald it high, hovering above her hand, for a moment. The eyes of the animal glinted, reflecting the warm glow of the fireball. She was amused to see the little squirrel.

Well, well are you the one that I hear chattering on my window sill every morning?

She grined at the squirrel and it seemed to answer back in a musical tone. She reached in her back pack and found a small piece of pecan muffin she had wrapped up for a treat for herself when she went to Poet's. She broke off a piece and fed it to the squirrel who stuffed it's cheeks with it and seemed to beam with appreciation.

She sat on the steps watching him eat the muffin. As the fireball dimmed she stood up petting the squirrel on the head and headed inside. She looked back and saw he was just looking at her.

Well come on in if you are going to be watching over me no sence in making it secret.

She laughed and led the squirrel to the elven garden.

Sleep here, you will feel more at home here.

She smiled softly and headed for her room.

It seemed to her the nights were darker as of late. She had to use her hand to find the opening into her bedroom. The squirrel cocked his head to one side and watched her struggle to find the door nob. He hopped up on the chests by the door near the door nob and chattered. She then bumped the nob reaching for the squirrel's head.

All right you. No more petting tonight I am going to bed.

She took the doornob in her other hand, petted the squirrel on the head and went into her room.

Good night little one.

She smiled, winked and closed the door.

With dread and trepidation. Rumnim sat at the writing desk, wondering when if ever she'd get up the courage to face Molly. Bella had stormed in and Rumnim could hear armour dropping and shredded clothing being tossed out. But then she saw something that surprised her all the same. A pure white sash, a snow white sash. At first Rumnim thought she was seeing Bella changing into Gauntlet colours, but no it wasn't. That was no ordinary sash. Bella had an old uniform of Lord British, how when did she get that?

"Bella? Where did you buy that?"

"Who said I bought it? I got stuck in a mass of people and handed it insde the Castle of Lord British. I didn't have much to say about it. My home was being attacked, that's why I moved everyone away from a town. But I gave an oath long before you showed up and I won't sit on my backside and let this happen again. MINNIE I need that new armour NOW!!!"

Rumnim could hear the oaths and curses of Bella's sister, Minerva downstairs at the forge because of Bella's habit of calling her Minnie.

"Alright. Fine, I know I won't be able to put any sense into you. And if you're up to calling her that. I'll just stand here and put up all the spell protections I can think of."
