*written in very large script*

Dear Maelwyn ab'Arawn,

I regret to say that I am finding it nearly impossible to stand the itching and burning these eyes are causing me. I have tried many elven and pixie remedies as well as some human ones. I need help. My vision is so blurred now that I have had to revert to using a staff to find my way again. I see shadows and shapes but much is not discernable. If I do not recognize voices then I know not whom I speak to.

Martin has been away for many, many weeks, only home twice since his quest for knowledge began. My guild has been very understanding but I can not burden them with the responsibility of a blind woman. They have duties to perform and a city to protect.

I really dislike asking for help, as you know I am very independent and do not like depending on anyone but myself, and my guild members on occasion.

Martin is not aware of how serious my loss of sight is or I am sure he would have returned by now to help me. I can not imagine why he would stay away for so long. It must be very important and I don't want to call him home if his quest for information is that vital.

I do fear that with this handicap I am putting myself and anyone associated with me in danger. It would be just like the darker element to take advantage of my situation.

I await your response and I thank you for all you have done so far. You and I have had few words but I knew your family long before I knew you. They were always kind and wonderful to me and were trusted friends. I know you share that same trait and I am thankful.

Awaiting patiently your reply,

Molly

*written large with regards to Lady Molly's condition*

Dear Molly,

The druids wish to express deepest sympathy in regard to your condition. We would like you to know we are willing to look into the matter, but I must know a few things first.

1. How was the gift of sight returned? Was it a willing gift from fey folk?

2. What method was used to forge the pair of eyes, and were all items blessed and properly cleansed?

3. Who was the artificer? Who crafted the eyes?

4. Does anything accompany the itching and uncomfort? Any voices or presence in your head?

Once these questions are answered, we may start researching for a solution. Unfortunately, we may need to do this whole process all over again.

As I write, a realization comes to me, a fast approaching holiday for the druids, Imbolc. A holiday often called "Return of the Light". A most fitting day to hold any blessings and healings and rituals. The date for this by your calender is February 1st. Tis a 3-day celebration, and with bonfires.

I will close this message now, Dear Lady. Please do not hesitate if a problem arises, or if the condition worsens, to send for us.

Signed,

Maelwyn ab'Arawn

I will try to answer your questions as best I can, as I am unsure what the Lady Randerstill did to accomplish the goal of the eyes she gave me. I trust her implicitly so what ever her method, she took the utmost care to do it correctly. I will seek her out to ask her the specifics of the actual creation of the stones used for my eyes. The stones were of Star Sapphire and the pupils were fashioned from Obsidian stone, this much I do know. As for anything else that is the limit of my knowledge.

The irritation they are causing is most distressing. I can only describe it as if there were hot orbs within my sockets, sometimes so hot that they burn other times they are less painful. I have yet to follow a pattern of when they are worse and when they are not so bad. I will try to observe more closely when the pain is worsened and when it eases so that I can help you try to discern what the trouble is. They itch all the time as if there were particles of sand behind my eyes. The vision they provide is all but gone accept for shadows and non-descript shapes.

I have not heard voices accompanying the pain or itching but I have suffered severe headaches and occasionally nightmares.

The nightmares I have suffered for a years. Since my sight was restored they have been more prevalent. The subjects of my dreams most often are the darkness of oblivion engulfing me in permanent darkness. Sometimes in the form of a mist, other times as a solid mass sealing me within it.

I suppose it could be some outside source but I have no way of knowing who or what is causing them. The dreams originally started years ago when the Order of the Ebon Skull took me prisoner and carved the symbol of a pentagram in my forehead. The scar is still faintly visible which is why I wear a garland to cover it. The pentagram was magically sealed and can never be removed by anyone but the one that placed it there or his equal. Many have tried and all have failed to remove it by other means.

This I have learned to live with. It burns slightly when any member of the skull is near. I have learned to ignore its pains though but the nightmares linger as a reminder that oblivion will take me eventually, or so the voices in the dreams boast. They say I should give in. My reply is always the same. I am a Paladin of virtue and light, I will not circum. I sometimes awake covered in perspiration or gasping for breath and most often shaking or crying. Much of the dreams I don't remember and for that I am thankful. I fear they are much worse than the parts I do remember. But the dreams I have also learned to live with.

My only concern is that they are coming more frequently now. I do not know if it is fear of oblivion or if it is the fear of the darkness becoming a permanent way of life that is driving these nightmares. It could be the simple fact that I am going blind that is causing this.

I thank you for responding so quickly. I will be in touch with as many of the answers you need as I can find.

Molly

Dearm Lady Molly,

What you tell me concerns me, greatly. The story of the impurification by The Unnatural Ones, The Ebon Skull. Had I known then, about this, I would have told you to perform the ceremony differently. It was not just the eyes that need to be cleansed. You, as well, it seems, must be purified. Imbolc is fast approaching, Lady, it is important that all these small matters be taken care of before February 1st. The Return of the Light is the Holiday of strong renewal powers, I wish to perform this ritual then.

Sincerely,

Maelwyn ab'Arawn
