Kurt stood talking with Matty chatting about the new laws to be enforced in Dark Cove. They had been at this discussion for a while now, nearly half an hour, neither agreeing on certain points of it.

Suddenly, Ceinwyn and Mairsil came running up to them, shouting about a mist, or something, and telling them to run. Over their shoulders he could see a fine black mist spreading quickly. Some townspeople were far behind Mairsil and Ceinwyn, still trying to, what looked like, outrun the fog. But as it would touch them, they would fall comatose to the ground.

All this Kurt saw in a flash, his mind working to process it. And then the words the two were yelling made sense, RUN! He and Matty must have reached the same conclusion and finally agreed on something. They took off at top speed towards the north end of Dark Cove, towards the Dark Adder.

A group stood there, catching their breath, trying to decide what to do. Someone looked out over the water and noticed the mist was creeping from the bay, as well. He heard someone yelling about the Keep being lost, even its impenetrable walls succombing to the foul vapors. People chanting to open a gate, as he stood in a slight daze, trying to accept the reality of the situation. The last thing he noticed as he watched the fog creeping up beside him, was a hand yanking him into a welcoming blue moongate.
