Many nights had passed, and Rufus had not been seen in public since the announcement of his retirement. Many many times he pondered if he would follow the steps of all the Regents before him; To wither away and fall in line with the forgotten, to walk the path of evil and become a son to the corrupt.

These are the things Rufus feared with his resignation. To live as a prophet to the people, a speaker, scholar...to simply speak on his ideals and exist. These are the things Rufus wished. But the walk was lonely...

The sand blew against his feet, small grains of sand rolling over the top of his sandals. He had forgotten what Nujel'm was like...he had forgotten what he owed his people. It was rebirth, a chance to begin a new. A chance to nay follow the steps of the Regents who had stepped down before him. He would continue...he would continue his existance. So before the man known as Rufus Oryan, was a new task...the Establishment of the Empire of Nujel'm.

He trapped himself within the palace's walls for nights after his parchment found its way about the lands. Those nights he sat, shirtless as the serpent tattoos throbbed as his biceps flexed. Sweat covered his brow, for he sat motionless, in thought; as he watched the sun set, and skys hold the moon captive. He would brush the marking on his face, and visualize his objective...he would die trying to maintain the Empire.

Perhaps its time for a new marking...
