Poet had not slept well if at all the previous night and was staring about the tavern floor of the Garden on the verge of being lost in meditation.
He sighed heavily and ran a hand through his hair and scratched at his chin which caused the bells that Cat had braided into his beard to jingle like bells in the wind. Stifling a yawn mixed with a chuckle he walked over to the bar to get a cup of tea.
As he crossed the tavern floor he noticed there were several bottles of ale only partially consumed. He picked them up toss out and noticed a peculiar odor coming from them. It almost seemed as if the beer had soured and become rancid.
Being the scholar he is, Poet went to each basket in the Garden extracting bottles of ale. He tested each one the only way he knew how, by drinking them. At the end of his experiment, as he stumbled to his reading chair by the fire, he calculated that about 1 out of every 4 bottles had soured.
This was most vexing. Whom did Poet trust to test the kegs in the cellar? _________________ "When he spoke, what tender words he used! So softly, that like flakes of feathered snow, They melted as they fell." - John Dryden |

Poet had thought about whom he could trust to test the ale in the cellar for the last few days.
Many had stepped forward willing to do so. Being a bit of a prankster himself, Poet was not sure of their intentions.
Time was of the essence, though. Many travel long distances to enjoy the nirvanic bliss that the Garden's October Ale embodies.
Poet sends out messengers to find Doolb Nevar, Arakad, and Charlie the dog. _________________ "When he spoke, what tender words he used! So softly, that like flakes of feathered snow, They melted as they fell." - John Dryden |

The Library in Castle was dimly lit, a contradiction to the dark felucca facet. Sitting at a desk to the far back rested a Paladin of the Royal Guard, dressed all in ice white with no regards to the formal sashs and colors of the guard. Flipping through some tale books bought from Finnagan's, he finds one comical to say the least as let out a soft chuckle before he wiffed a strange yet familiar fragrance on the air. That of sweet ale and flowered scent. With quick and graceful movements the Paladin throws back a hand releasing two shadow shurikens in the direction of the figure that intruded upon his studies, mere warning to the unknown figure.
"That's far enough, mate, state your business before the next star goes vital"
Frightened to speak, the messenger tosses a letter at the paladin and turns to walk...quickly... out of the castle. With swift unknown grace for a Paladin, the man picks up the letter with leather gloved hands, reading its contents on his way back to the dimly lit desk.
"The ale's gone bad? Me to taste test? With a dog and some strange man? Sure what the hell got nothin` better to do."
The Paladin reaches up to a large bird shelter that sits just outside the window by the library desk, within resting a silver feathered eagle, the graceful bird of the elves at one time many moons ago. Slipping a small letter scroll in the birds pouch he sets it flight to the Tavern. |

Doolb woke suddenly as a human male stood above him pouring ale onto his face.Doolb seemed rather aggitated from the mans actions.
What are ye doing fool that be good dwarven ale ye be wasting?
Doolb stood staggering for a moment while reaching for his hatchet. The man spoke for a brief moment and handed Doolb a neatly rolled parchment. While Doolb unrolled the parchment and began to read, the man turned and walked out of the cave in which he had found Doolb passed out upon the floor.
As he stood upon the cave entrance Doolb looked out scrathing his bearded face.
Test the ale?
Doolb pondered for a moment and looked up to the sky with a broad smile upon his face and kneeled to the earth below him.
Clangeddin Silverbeard you truly know the way to me heart.
Doolb stood quikly and headed to the portal of Yew.
A day me can drink some ale is the day me still alive. |
