The moonlight could barely penetrate the mist in Yew as the pale rider almost drifted through the night on his ghostly steed. Once again he stopped. By a large Yew tree, a shape took form in the mist. “He is near, Master. Beyond the castle”. The rider nodded and dismissed the spirit. His scouts served him well from the other side.
As the structure took shape before him, he pondered if he was too late, or maybe it was a trap, if not for him self then for others to walk into. He knew he was not expected. The benefit of years reclusive studies.
He forced the ghostly steed to the porch, before him Kotate in full plate but without his helmet. Looking Kotare over for signs of weakness, he realized his starring might expose his intentions. Uncertain still of Kotares true condition, the rider was pleased to notice his surprise to see him.
Kotare: Never thought I’d see you here
Smogg Azalin: I have been looking for you
Kotare: Oh? Nothing bad I hope
Smogg Azalin: I hear rumors that you are unwell.
Kotare: and how might you have heard such? So you came all this way to check up on me?
Smogg paused for a second as if trying to sense something.
Through the corners of his eyes, he noticed another arriving. It was unity. If Kotare had been able to fight off the curse or regain his strength, this would be a dangerous fight. Smogg double checked that his recall rune was in his pouch.
Unity: Smogg checking up on you? I thought it was my job.
The remaining talk faded to chatter as his pale hand closed tightly around the black cleaver. His eyes closed in the darkness under his hat, as for his eyes to glance beyond the veil. A spirit was just waiting for his call. There would be no escape.
“Kotare, I have come to put you out of your misery! Death will set you free!” His voice was so evil that the mist blackened before him, and soon took shape of a spirit. Not waiting for this servant of death, he swung his cleaver at Kotare’s throat. Blood spilled to the floor. Kotare spoke his magic to close the wound while with all his strength holding the Necromancer off with his right arm.
Smogg’s eyes turned red as Kotare’s magic began to take effect, the blood gushing from Kotare’s open wound was almost intoxicating.
In the next instant a large black halberd of the underworld dug deep into Kotare’s armored back and he sank to his knees. The now fully present black spirit behind Kotare pulled out the black blade, trailed by an arch of blood.
Smogg Azalin dismissed the spirit and kneeled by injured Kotare Blackwind. He covered them both in his black cloak as he drained him dry of life.
Soon it was over. Smogg pulled the fangs from Blackwinds jaws and mounted the ghostly steed. With a final glance over his back his gaze met unity’s. No explanation was revealed in Smogg’s eyes, only the chill of the night.
The mist then took him. _________________

Upon resurection, Kotare was granted life once more. But something was gone. He could not shake this feeling of emptiness. He knew he was slain, but upon his return to the mortal realm, none were in sight.
his memory was begining to betray him. he did not know why he was slain. he had his belongings, he wasn't robbed. His habbits as a vampire were gone. the desire to drain life from the living now gone. But even worse, are the memories of him being sired, the bonds of frendship he has made as a vampire with others of his kin. those that he knew as Kindred began to fade from all corners of his mind. He has returned to the state of not knowing what death was like. the ability to manipulate beast to his will. the warmth of his skin, it fely unusual to him, yet he did not know why. his sences have not felt warmth in some time yet his memory makes him think it was only yesterday.
Like a fallen Dark Angel, Kotare rose to his feet uncertain of his future for the first time in many years. Somehow, it brought a smile to him. Only time will tell if his memory returns....If it returns. |

As Unity's servant returned home assuring him that Kotare was at his tower slightly south of the Dark Awakening tavern. Unity then went out the door with haste for he was reluctant to meet with Kotare after his run in's that had come to pass, but he himself was curious how Yew was fairing. Apon his arrival he noticed a dark entity in the mist of the Yew trees. As he approached closer he came to see it was Smogg Azalin and he was speaking with Kotare, Kotare quickly told Unity that he was in the area checking up on Kotare's well being. So quickly Unity responded with a wise remark "Checking up on you? I thought htat was my job?" Unity found some humor in it since he was in fact coming to the tower to check up on any matters in yew and of the Blackwind Knights.
After Smogg spoke out to Kotare for some time he summoned a being from beyond and rose to attack Kotare, Unity stayed back in the shadows just watching to see the outcome, in the end Kotare fell to the ground and Smogg stood above him looking dark and mystical as he always did. He looked up at Unity with a stare as if he were lookign through Unity waiting for him to speak or amke a motion, but Unity stood in silence as Smogg reached down to Kotare and spoke some more of hoping this being the end then doing something to the lifeless body that lay motionless ont he ground, but from the shadows Unity couldnt quite make it out. Then Smogg quickly summoned his lifeless steed and then spoke out into the night and seemingly vanishing into the shadows.
Unity looked down to the body and spoke an incantation of life apon the body, Kotare then imerged again from the ground weak and weary, unsure where he was or what had happened to him. Unity was puzzled with this since Kotare was here speakign to Smogg and Unity the entire time up untill the fatal blow Kotare was as arrogant as ever and fought fiercely, but when he tok the breath into his lungs after being resurrected from his death he seemed... differant. Unity quickly tried to explain to Kotare what had happened this evening, but to no avail. Kotare didnt even seem to recognise Unity, but he never came out and said anyting.. Unity knew something was very off with him, the motions, movements, and the puzzled look apon Kotare's face. Unity pondered this for much time and parted with Kotare abruptly not speaking another word or parting, he quickly spoke out into the night and slid into the darkness himself to appear infront of his palace int he mountains of Luna. Apon entering his palace he quickly went to his library to read and write into his journal the events that ahd passed this evening. When he finished his journal he picked back up his quill and began to draft a message to send to Anna. _________________ Unity, Scholar of Diligence, Control, and Passion
