*On a what appears to be at least somewhat expensive parchment is a note mailed to all of those who would consider themselves virtuous. In a generic script, with rather fancy handwriting, the note reads:*
To those of the Light,
I write to you with this letter with a message of openmindedness. Nay, not to lecture you...to preach or to scold. But to encourage you to open your minds.
For years I have sat and seen a growing trend amongst you, of the virtues. The very qualities that you think seperate you from the shadows you so desperately seek to quell.....are you really so different? Beloved qualities of humility and compassion, honor and spirituality, are now nothing more than backwards perversions that you would throw around like a dish rag.
The other night, a paladin spit on me. Mustered all the phlegm he could and launched it on me, sullying a tasteful and expensive article of clothing. Why? "Because I am scum". Where, friends, is the honor in that? I was also spoken to by a man, who called himself a paladin. I'd never met him before, never said a word to him. He went out of his way to follow me out of a tavern, so he could spit on me and insult my name. This is what you call honor?
I've seen men who called themselves virtuous rank with anger and hatred, at a person they'd never even met. For no reason other than "I am supposed to hate". This is your compassion?
For all of your shiney armor, books on virtue and brandished "holy swords"....something smells. Could it be that underneath all of the blessed armor and images of faith and virtue....that the heart is no more 'pure and good', then that which these men seek to slay?
Ask youselves, every night, before you go to bed, "Do I really understand what it is I'm doing...and do I really understand why?"; if for not another reason than to prove me, the author, wrong.
Ideas of what is right and what is wrong, as is their nature, are subject to interpretation. But you owe it to yourself, and the very core of your system of beliefs, to truely strive to understand what it is you strive so valiantly hope to destroy.
