The attack in Britain yesterday was grave and tragic, indeed. Many innocents lost their lives, and still more were badly wounded. Lord Victor Holmgren is still searching for the reason for the attack, and how it happened in the first place.

It began during a brief conference between Victor, Clainin, and some members of the Royal Guard. During the conference, out of nowhere, an entire horde of demons of all types---daemons, chaos daemons, and so forth---began to storm Castle British. As most of the crowd attempted to flee the castle, a few turned to Holmgren in sheer confusion.

"Where is Clainin!?"

Victor could not answer that. He was too preoccupied with the sight before him. In the peaceful town of Britain, bands of the fear-inspiring fleshrenderers, the awful insect champions of the Gauntlet, began to spill forth and murder the innocents of the town. Taking a deep breath, Victor and his comrades who stuck with him marched forth to attack.

The battle turned out to be a long and hard one, many warriors and mages losing their lives, but in the end they prevailed. As they headed further south, a giant silhouette appeared of what looked like an abnormally large horde demon. As the guards pushed forward, groups of wanderers of the void appeared, but were taken down easily with the freshly amassed army. The giant beast, the abyssmal demon that was guarding a giant crystal shard, was soon attacked.

But nothing happened. Swords bounced off his flesh, magic spells shriveled before his eyes. The beast could not be harmed in any way. The crystal shard he was hovering around was protecting him from any damage.

Then something odd happened. Iyona, the woman Victor rescued from the prisons at the Court of Truths, appeared and, using some mystic art unknown to the people surrounding her, destroyed the crystal.

The demon fell almost instantly as weapons pierced its skin and magical fires burned his flesh. With his death, amazingly, all the demons in the city fell to the ground in a death bonded to the beast.

And Iyona was nowhere to be found.

Victor Holmgren was conversing with the people around him, and they all agreed something wasn't right. Clainin's mystic barrier had failed, and he disappeared the moment the demons attacked. But he dismissed that the mage would have anything to do with it.

Before departing, he suggested to everyone that the best course to take would be to work on the barriers he was having built in the three mountain passes around Britain.

And as bloody corpses were cleaned up out of the town, Britain slowly recovered from the attack. Rumors were floating around the Clainin must have been responsible, but such rumors were instantly dispelled by the Guard. Whatever happened, it is up to not the Royal Guard, but everybody, to find out.

A quick footnote is scribbled and attached to the notice with a long slender dagger.

All members of the Wilmeth Guard are ordered to assist in the creation of the barriers. One such barrier shuts out the Wilmeth Valley from Britain. As a result, I appoint the Wilmeth Valley near Despise as a first defense against whatever is to come.

I command all guards under me to assist in the construction. This includes all three divisions (soldiers, knights, and scouts).

Walk into the valley right next to Rowen's home and the barrier resources are kept at the other end. Bring logs and iron ore to this pile. Any person caught stealing from this pile endangers the entire city of Britain and will be punished severely.
