Jhanna emerged from the woods and stepped into the Armunn courtyard for the first time three days. Instead of going inside the keep as she normally would, the young lass decided to linger a bit by pond and reflect upon the events of the past few days.
The teenage servant had seen and experienced alot while her lord and lady were away. She had been spending time having exciting adventures following in Lord Maximus' shadow. He had been captured by the Ebon Skull and she had tried to run to rescue him and even had almost managed to hit one of the persuers when Lord Maximus was making his mistake. Eventhough she'd only succeeded in getting the evil man's notice instead of knocking him off his mount, like she had tried to do, she had still been able to give him pause long enough for the lord to escape and was very proud of herself for the deed. Proud, until the scarey man turned to look at her and caused her to back away in fright. Thankfully Sir Beowulf came to her side and spoke with the evil Skull man on her behalf. Curiosity as to why the enemy would bother listening to him instead of attacking never entered her mind when she took her leave as quickly as she could to go search for Maximus and make sure he was unharmed.

Beng a mute for most of her life, Jhanna had been misunderstood by many. Some would see her as rude, while others saw her as a very obeidient servant. Some even thought that because she worked for Tarothin Armunn that she was just too terrified to speak. Even Lord Maximus thought the girl was mentally hampered because of the way she jumped around trying to explain things to him when she was excited or afraid.
She had, in fact, run into Lord Armunn very little, though she worked in his keep, and those few run-ins had been embarrasing and fearful since he always seemed to catch her at a time when things were going wrong. Like the time they had guests over and she was assigned to fill in for the stable boy. One of the guests had left the gate open and many of the mounts had wondered out of the stable and into the house itself. One horse in particular refused to leave the main hallway no matter how hard she tried to shove him back to the stable. When hearing Lord Armunn's deep voice coming in her direction, Jhanna could think of nothing else to do other than to try to hide the mount behind a nearby tapestry. When the Lord entered the hall with his guest, Jhanna was just about to hide too but his voice, directed at her, froze her in place. She tried turning to look at him with a respectful smile, but shrank back instead. He merely noted her presence and gave her some minor chore, but she was still terrified. She had worked for the Armunns for weeks by then and this was the first time he seemed to even acknowledge her and she wasn't sure what to expect from the man she'd heard many terrifying rumors of. When everyone was out of the hallway, she turned to the horse and saw that his rump had been sticking out from behind tapestry. She had waited for a beating that night, but none ever came.
The Lady Armunn was almost an opposite of the Lord, or at least the things she'd heard about him. Lady Ditto treated her more like a good friend than a servant most of the time and had even spared Jhanna from the wrath of Governess Zirazinn on many occassions. The house governess was the woman given the task of keeping the servants in line and she could be very cruel when one didn't do their house duties properly. Jhanna thought of Zira as a mean old bat and wished that she could make a squeeky bat sound when Zirazinn would walk by. Ofcourse she would be backhanded by the tall old woman if she ever did such a thing, even if she could, but it might be worth it to try.
Zirazinn....Jhanna would have groaned just then if she could make the sound...the governess had sent her off three days ago to fetch handymen to come and fix a wall in the stable. It had been damaged during a battle and one of the mounts had been kicking at it. She wanted it repaired before Lord Armunn returned home from his trip so that his large swamp dragon wouldn't damage it further. Also, she was to stop by Hanse hostel to arrange for a delivery of fresh fruit from Innkeeper Patterson, since Lady Ditto always prefered her fruit from there. It was those tasks that Jhanna had left to go do when she had found out about Lord Maximus' capture, and she had lingered around his home the past few days and watching the soldiers train so that she might be able to learn how to use the beautiful glowing blue staff he'd given her.
Jhanna looked towards the keep for a moment. The governess would be in a fury with her by now and would probably beat her til she bled, but maybe if she got the handymen there and went and brought the fruit home the old woman wouldn't hit her quite so hard. She really should get home though.
She looked back and forth between the road and the keep trying to decide which would be better. Seeing now to her tasks, or reporting in with the governess. It was late and the handymen would be in bed and Patterson would be busy with tending to guests at the hostel at this time of night. With a heavy, silent sigh, Jhanna made her way towards the keep.

Walking as quietly as she could, Jhanna went down the long entrance hall that passed the stables, hoping to first see Cook, who might know what kind of mood Zirazinn was in. An odd snort sound stopped her dead in her tracks and she turned to look at the stable stalls. Lord Armunn's swamp dragon. It looked and snorted at her from an empty guest stable and when she glanced at it's normal stable, she saw that the wall had been broken through and a large hole was present.
Jhanna looked up at the ceiling of the hallway and thought about the bedchamber. It was her specific duty to keep that one room cleaned. Lord Armunn was particular about his things being in their proper places, yet his wife was very messy and forgetful when it came to the bedchamber and Jhanna wondered how long they'd been home in her three day absence. Even if they'd only been back one full day, the bedchamber was sure to be in a disastrous state and at this time of night, they may both be in bed, making it too late to clean and by morning the master of the house would be put in a foul mood by the untidyness....especially if they'd returned even sooner.
Terrified of Lord Armunn's temper, Jhanna quickly turned and ran back down the hall and out the door, making her way towards Lord Maximus' home to seek safety in his stables.
