As Rufus entered the Palace of Nujel’m. He bypassed he and Sarah’s bedchamber, slowly walking into a dark room, alone. The moonlight greeted him as he entered the room. His body seemed hunched over as if exhausted. He slowly gripped the top of a chair, and turned it away from the desk it was under. He raised the candle from the desk, lit it; and sat in the chair. As he peered out the window, into the sky, he raised his hand to his face, brushing the marking underneath his right eye. Still, Rufus wore the marking Alarin placed under his eye…a marking of purpose, and a reminder of what lay in the darkness. The damp cool air, whisked about the room, making the candle flicker a bit. Rufus took in a deep breath, and looked to the heavens as he spoke aloud…
“A woman, mad; so much fear in her eyes. She did repeat those same words Savhanna had muttered to me…Heir, Key… Twas all so confusing. I saw within her a great deal of fear, but in essence, she was focused on a goal. Though I do remained confused as to what it is. The protection of herself? Or of something greater?” Rufus ran his fingers through his dark hair and took in a deep breath, “I gave it my best…to comfort her. To explain that in her confusion, she was nay alone. For I have seen a part of the abyss myself. To see another fall to it…” Rufus paused and shook his head slowly as his eyes welled up. “Tis something I cannot bare. She must understand her position, and what she stands for. Currently, people who know her not, but know of her, are willing to unite to see her removed from what seems to be…an open prison. But tis her will that binds her there. All with purpose it seems…” Rufus stood up slowly and walked to the window, leaning on its opening, “I do wish that ye could provide me with an answer. She is a symbol of something great…a principle united with the Regency, and its foundation. But more importantly…to me if anything, She is a being trapped in a cage of horrors…shouting to be removed. But still…it all seems to be with her own timing and motivation. I can only hope to stand along side her.”
Rufus turned and walked to the desk, his shadow bouncing off the walls as the candle flickered; he began to pace about the room slowly, “There seems to be much more involved. But I’ve little information. Savhanna has released unto me what knowledge she acquired during her conversation with her. Isk described her as delusional, but his view tainted and skewed slightly…still they speak that there is some clarity in her thoughts. So, she does have reasoning, and purpose…but what?” Rufus’s eyes welled up a bit, tears on the verge of rolling down his cheek. He felt so drawn to her situation, or moreso the torment of a being…all for the protection of something…or a search. It was so confusing. As the clouds began to move with the damp winds that rolled about the sky, Rufus turned the chair back to the desk, moved the candle about a bit, to the corner of the desk, and spoke aloud, “Worry not Milady. Mayhaps, another stab at conversation. The poor woman…scared…I stood there as she clawed at her skin…or as she showed me the scars on her stomach…what had she been through? Perhaps, I shall see when next we meet…”
Rufus leaned forward a bit, and blew out the candle. On the morrow, he would prepare statements to loyalists, wordings of his cabinet…and letters to persons he’d nay spoken to for some time. He would not sleep well this night, he would pray, and share his thoughts, on the winds; with the woman who was once The Oracle of Love... _________________ "Balance - the harmony between the Principles of Order and Chaos...Harmony, Dedication and Rationality, the three Principles of Balance, are our highest ideals." |
