Deidle suited up and got on his new mount. To Riverrun he headed for a night of comradery and the hunting of exotic creatures. It was hunt night for the KOS and Deidle planned on not being late for once in his life. He did not procrastinate this night like he had every other night. He rode fast and hard to the guild house and on his arrival he burst through the door.
"I'm He~re!!" he came to silence. Quickly he looked around and was releived that nothing was amiss with Arcana's things. Due to the previous nights events he was on alert for anything suspicious. But all was quiet and there was no sighn of anything wrong save for the fact that his guild mates were not there. He waited for a while and soon realized that no one was coming. This did not sadden him for he had a back up plan.
"To Poet's then... maybe I can scare up some fun and conversation there." But alas upon his arival he noticed that the closed sighn was up.
"I really need to check the schedual of this place. I always seem to show up when they are closed." He frowned but as he looked outside he saw Tai Kwan Leap of the AOF.
"Ah.. I have an idea." He walked to meet Sir Tai. "Hail Sir Tai" Tai exchanged the greating and each asked how the other was on this night. "Sir Tai, may I ask where I might find Arlin tonight?"
"He is at the abbey" Tai politely replied. Deidle mounted up and with the help of Tai's rune and the words of the sacred journey, Deidle found himself in Yew just south of the afor mentioned abbey. Deidle strolled up to the area in front and sure enough saw Arlin and his men. Just before he could give a hail, Vmann, a guild mate had come from behind.
"Vmann?! What brings you here?" Deidle was in shock for the chances of them both meeting in the same spot without planning were slim if any.
"I am just looking for a pet ball." Vmann's words came out as though he were preoccupied and wished to waste little time. "I thought I just saw an Orc running around here.."
"Wur dez Orcies?" the garbled speach came from behind them. Deidle turned and saw a lone orc standing there. He reached for his blade but halted himself. He knew that if Arlins men were not charging this orc down, then he must pose no threat.
"What buisiness do you have here orc?" Deidle and Vmann kept a close eye on the seemingly wayward orc. His reply was a jumble of sounds that Deidle could not understand, for he admitedly knew very little orcish. Vmann seemed to know a little more and gave some rough translations. The Orc was on lagitimate buisiness with the AOF. The orc then introduced themself, "Mek nem Kur'pur." A big toothy grin came across Kur'pur's face and Deidle had all he could do to hold back a slight chuckle.
"Latz nem?"
Vmann looked puzzled, "No last name is necessary."
"Nub." said Kur'pur "Latz nem?"
"Latz nem..." Vmann still was at a loss.
"You want our names?!" Deidle smiled wide as though he had just slain a mighty dragon.
"Yeb, latz nem?"
"Ahhh.. My name is Deidle Moonwatyr, Deidle is fine though."
"My name is Vlad Munich," Vmann smiled slightly "But my friends call me Vmann." Vlad left soon after the introductions but Deidle stayed a bit and talked with Kur'pur. This was the first Orc who hadn't tried to "clomp" him. He understood very little of the conversation but over time got the general idea of what the orc was trying to tell him. Feeling proud at his quick learning he looked around and realized that he had missed Arlin's departure. Seeing the orc was occupied by another he took his chance to ask some of Arlin's men where he had gone.
"I don't know." Deidle realized that these men had just come on duty and were not around when Arlin left. Then suddenly the half ogre came up the path.
"Arlin!" Deidle waved to him and met him on the path.
"Aye?" Arlin's eyes looked questioningly at Deidle which would be expected for this was not a planned visit.
"I just came to say thank you, personally."
"Fer?" a man of few words but of many expressions. Deidle could see that he did not understand what this was about.
"I wish to thank you for the rescue of my guildmistress, Lady Arcana."
"I wur obligated ta. I kinda need er." Arlin smiled. Deidle thought he had never seen Arlin smile like that and he realized why Arcana had grown so fond of him.
"It seems the fact that you are half ogre, does not stop at yer outward appearance." Deidle said this with a slight smirk on his face.
"Eh?" Arlin's face scrunched up as though he were waiting for the punchline to this joke.
"You have a big heart aswell." Deidle's smirk turned to a full smile as he saw Arlin's face release and also turn to a smile.
"I luv her." He said to Deidle in a tone that he knew could only be the truth.
"That love, although different in nature, is shared by her Knights also."
"She speaks highly of y'all."
"As she does of you Arlin." Deidle bowed. "Well I must be off. Good eve to you Arlin."
"Aye, same ta you."
Deidle turned to Kur'pur. "Kur'pur?" He cought the orcs attention, "Good eve to you." The orc noded and Deidle mounted up and spoke the words of the sacred journey once more, taking him home for the night. _________________ *The only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing.* |
