Riding back from his trip to Yew, Arieus began to think about recent events and mostly, those of which he had currently been involved. He arrived home, and stabled his horse.

Later, after a brief rest, he awoke and realized that The Knights of Sosaria had seemed to take a turn towards the mercenary arts. He frowned a bit, polished his armor and sword, and then rode off to parts of Malas he had known before, adorned simply in the Royal markings and proud crest of House De'Chevia.

It seemed his station was in question, yet again. Orders were being issued to his knights, of which he thought he was their commander. It seemed that his command had been striped away by another.

..He sought Duchess Molly who still seemed to give credence to a Knightly way.

Arcana reflected on her recent harsh words with her supposed second in command. She'd not wanted to take this step, but she could no longer overlook his shameful behavior. She'd told him time and time again that there was more to knighthood than polite manners. That nobility was a way of acting, not a mere birthright. And most importantly, because of her belief in the very Virtues that he claimed meant everything to him, that her assitance, friendship, and aid were not limited to only those few he deemed "noble" enough to be worthy of them. It saddened her how his jealousy had twisted his heart and perceptions.

So she sat at the borrowed desk and with a heavy heart wrote this letter, her customary slanting hand a bit more bold than usual.

Arieus De'Chevia,

Whether you have already left the order of the Knights of Sosaria, I cannot even venture a guess. However, given your recent and consistantly egregious behavior, you are hereby revoked of your command.

You have absented yourself without permission from escorting a caravan of our own merchant's goods for sale in Yew and donated medical supplies for the Abbey hospital. You have accused your leige lady of such false, henious deeds as mercenary activity. You have repeatedly and dilberately avoided joining your men, which you supposedly lead, in training activities. You have been given generously ample opportunity to return to your duty, which you have declined.

You have also seen fit to remark upon my personal conduct in a way that does your claim to knighthood no credit. Your continued jealousy over my personal attentions has led you far astray from your duties. As such, you need not trouble yourself with them any longer.

This day I do hereby release you from my service.

My grave dissappointment in your conduct is only surpassed by my shame to tell your fellow knights the reasons for you dissappearance.

*signed*
Lady Arcana Arryn

Sitting in the foyer reading a book she heard the gates open and looked up to see a slightly slumpshouldered Arieus pass through the door. Carefully he closed it and walked in and sat next to her. She smiled and greeted him. He looked at her sadly and told her of his time in KOS and said he was leaving them.

She was distressed to learn of the goings on between her and Arlin, a known mercenary. She said though that it was her choice and perhaps she could help him become more virtuous with her caring and her love for him. It might not be all bad for both of them in the future. She told him he made a wise choice to distance himself from the situation. He was too close to it to see clearly anymore.

She told him he always had a place in the House of the Gauntlet. He nodded and accepted her offer of a position. He seemed to perk up when she told him that there were changes afoot and there would be more activites coming up in the next few weeks and she could use his help.

She dismissed Arieus for the evening and she headed the family quarters. She tucked in the twins and headed to the bedroom in the garden. Martin was away more and more often these days. Sleeping alone seemed to be the way of things anymore. She lay looking at the stars they used to share together. Hugging the pillow he layed his head on, she breathed in his sent as she fell off to sleep.

The follow was sent to KoS HQ:

To My Friends,

I believe and explanation is in order for all of you in regard to my recent actions.
The truth of the matter is that I had a vision of a Knightly order, and not one of a roaming army that had no productive roots. I do not see this as a proper path, most especially when my command is handed to a mercenary captain. I wish to clarify that this is my own personal opinion, and that is just the way it has to be.

Now some of you might think jealousy that Arcana chose Arlin over me is a factor. I would say that is not the case, although it is heartbreaking. What is even more quelling is the fact that my meetings with Lia L in regard to Vesper, Tarothin Armunn in regard to The Regulators, and some of the other work I did was pulled out from under me, and in its place we found ourselves furthering the cause of AoF. My intentions were to further the cause of KoS.

I had taken steps to try to better the Knightly state of the guild to what end, this was overshadowed by maneuvers with AoF. I think that this is great, if that is the direction you all wish to go, however, being a Royal Knight, having worked my way up the ranks from squire; I do not see clashing swords without a higher direction a true path to that end.

Furthermore, I did not remove myself from KOS, I would have been happy to stay as a lower ranking member, and would have been fine with that. I woke and found myself no longer tied to KOS by Arcana’s removal of my service. Again, that is fine, if that is what she wishes.

Arcana is a wonderful leader and a great lady and I still have nothing but respect for her and all of you. It just seems that my path has taken a different route. I meant to explore my thoughts by a brief absence, however, it seems that said leave was misconstrued by whatever convoluted theory we both may have had.

Any of you who have further questions for me, or wish to meet and discuss the matter, please feel free to send me a pigeon or write to me. I regret that this matter has taken place and trust you will all carry on despite this incident. If ever, any of you have need of me I will come to you without hesitation, especially in regard to some of the matters left undone or incomplete.

May the virtues guide your path always!

Arieus De’Chevia, Viscount of Northern Malas
