Arcana handed the specially sealed document to Arieus, granting him authority to treat with Tarothin and these Regulators on behalf of the Knights.

“You have my complete confidence,” she said, firmly squelching her remaining reservations. As a leader she could not allow her temper to govern her actions. Given the phenomenally spectacular personality clash between herself and Tarothin, sending her second-in-command was by far the more pragmatic choice. Though ordinarily capable of admirable restraint and objectivity in matters of diplomacy, something about the man just got under her skin. He was probably one of those types who kept little chess pieces of various leaders on a map of the realm in his office.

However, Arieus had persuaded her to his cause. While the two of them danced around and studiously avoided the subject of their personal relationship, they were both wholly committed to the noble traditions as well as the future of the Knights of Sosaria. In the few months since she’d knighted him, Arieus had already become indispensable as her right hand, and she respected his judgment. And so, she’d try things his way.

The next day, the following dispatch was sent via carrier pigeon to Dark Cove.

Dear Lord Armunn,

I was a pleasure to recently meet you at Riverun in Vesper. I would like to continue our discussions, however, this time with you and myself. I thus would be willing to travel to Cove, with of course, your permission and continued interest in the matter?

Respectfully,

Arieus De’Chevia – Lord, Knight Commander of KoS

On his way out of his keep a servant stepped forward to hand him the missive. After reading it he tucked it into his armor.

After arriving back from certain things he needed to do, he walked bak up to his study to write a reply.

Dear Arieus De'Chevia,

I am indeed still very much interested in continued discussions. Hopefully within time a trust will be formed. I look forward to our meeting. I send with you a trained hawk so as to contact me at the time you would like to meet. I am usually always in Dark Cove...unless there are things I must do, elsewhere. Until we meet.
