It was a long time ago when the world was different. Young and carefree, and always thinking. Sitting in her garden outside the house they once shared, thoughts of him plague her. It wasn't all that long ago she saw him. The lines on his face a bit deeper, his body a bit leaner but no less muscular. Not many words passed between them, yet, there never were many words. It was all there on his face and in his eyes.

His wife and children were lucky to have the part of himself he was able to give them. For how long he could continue, she couldn't guess. The warrior is in his soul and his blood. His struggle with the darkness that lurks beneath is a strain to keep hidden.

Her love for him is overwhelming, and has been since the beginning. Wherever her path leads he will always be with her in her heart. She knows that they were never meant to be together, he with the restless spirit, and she wanting roots and tranquility. Laughing softly to herself, she realizes she would have gone anywhere with him, faced many dangers by his side, yet she also knows he needed his solitude.

She knows his visit would be the last she sees of him. As he left her, a part of her heart went with him. "Goodbye my friend...safe journeys..."
With that final thought she retires to her bedroom. curls up on the bed and cries for what was and what will never be...
