Arlin hurled the throwing dagger, wincing in pain from his still sore arm. The dagger flew off mark, and imbedded itself in the wall.

A chuckle prompted Arlin to turn around and stare down his newly promoted Corporal Klem Kharen. Klem coughed, and stood at attention. Arlin smirked and waved a dismissive hand. "Eh, so boss, how do you think the meeting went tonight?" Klem queried.

Arlin smirked and responded "Eh, wen' s'alright". He knew that it went better than alright. Arlin had finally moved the Yew Town Council to action, forcing a vote on new mayor elections since the current mayor was absent. Redwind had dug his heels in, insulting Arlin left and right, and it had taken all his restraint not to strike him down right there. But no, Arlin had plans for Yew, and weather he liked it or not, he needed all the help he could get.

Besides, by the end of the meeting, the Council had unanimouisly voted to hold the elections within a month. Even Lilyth, Redwinds rumored lover, voted for the election, albiet apologeticly. She would prove a valued ally in the future, Arlin was sure of that. And now that he had a solid foothold in Yew, it was only a matter of time before he united the fractioned guilds under one banner, reclaiming Yew as a world power.

"That Redwind sure was an ass though, weren't he boss?" Arlin smirked, letting his silence answer for him. Politics was not Arlins forte, but from hanging around Arcana, he had picked up a few tricks. Such as when to keep his mouth shut, and when to make threats. Arlin hurled another dagger this time, using his left hand. He smiled as the dagger sailed into the center of the target.

The latest Issue of the Humanis Voice.
