About The Crimson Shadow Syndicate

The following gives a brief physical appearance and vignettes that follow the captains, lackeys, and investors during initial fateful meeting with Dante Darkheart up until the present.

Captains

Name: Gwen Ravenwood Race: Vampiric Human Age: 41 Height: 5’5” Weight: 132lbs Eyes: Green Appearance: A beautiful woman who is only just starting to show her years. She looks as if she takes great care in keeping herself looking her best. Her long black hair is never out of place and her fingernails appear to be perfectly manicured when not covered in long silken gloves. Her skin is pale and soft. She looks to have once had the body of a dancer.

Being one of the first people to meet Dante upon his arrival she managed to make a lasting impression. This was in fact due to her wealth. Though Dante certainly used his charms to convince her it was her beauty. Dante had introduced himself as something of an artist as it was perhaps his only socially acceptable hobby. She made up an excuse that she had been looking towards hiring an artist to paint her portraits to line Ravenwood Manor. Over Dante's third evening on the new shard he sat with Gwen sketching her on his canvas and working on his color palette. They spend much of the night getting to know one another. The entire time Dante suspects a presence watching over Gwen. After Gwen retired for the night Dante wandered the halls of Ravenwood Manor. He came across Rogal's room and found why Gwen slept in a separate wing of the manor. After meeting with the apparent bed ridden and demented body of Rogal Dante returned to his room. He spent the rest of the night finishing his painting of Gwen. He may have had his way with the maid while drinking her blood before going to bed himself. When he woke the next day in the early evening he presented the painting to Gwen. It could have been a finger painting for all Gwen cared. She was too excited by the promise of a new man to make her feel pretty and young again. She commissioned several more paintings along with the services of her younger sister and confidant, Chelsea Dagger as a guide. Gwen had ordered Chelsea to take Dante to meet other members of her social circle. In Dante's absence Gwen received letters from her friends detailing their meetings with Dante. A recurring theme that came up time after time was that he would arrive shortly after dusk and oblige the host to continue on to the wee hours of the morning. Chelsea had sailed the ship back to Jhelom early one morning. Dante insisted on continuing on sleeping in the darkened quarters of the ship. This gave Gwen time to ask Chelsea about their voyage. Chelsea explained Dante was practically nocturnal and he seemed quite comfortable around necromancers and not so much around paladins. Chelsea told Gwen of a magic tower Dante had built on Fire Isle. When the sun fell Dante sprang to life eager to show his portraits and landscapes. Gwen noticed that the landscapes were all night scenes. And the portraits as good as they were all very dark. Still Gwen was thrilled Dante had returned. She sent Chelsea away and ordered her servants to make her and Dante a romantic dinner for two. When Dante did not touch any of his food he tried to insist he was still a little sea sick. This did not convince Gwen. She practically force fed Dante a big bite of steak. When he still refused she had nearly figured out that he was a vampire. She desired to be immortal as soon as possible as her looks were now beginning to fade with age. She had heard stories of vampires but never met one. She had heard they stayed young and beautiful forever. She wasn't entirely sure how to become a vampire. She though she merely had to be fed from or have sex with a vampire. This excited her all the more as she threw herself at him like a hormone addled teenager. She was only slightly disappointed to find herself wrong. Gwen instead flat out asks Dante to make her a vampire. Dante denies her first but after further prodding and a promise of 'anything' for vampirism Dante asks for her entire fortune and estate. Gwen hardly thought about what she was giving up and agreed. Still she had little to no real access to the vast majority of her fortune as it belonged to her comatose husband Rogal.
The following day Gwen discusses the terms and conditions of her access to her husband's money with one of the shadier Ravenwood accountants. It seems the only way she will ever have control over the Ravenwood estate is upon Rogal's death. Gwen consults with Rogal's physician. Rogal's 72 year old body appears to be in peak condition for someone his age. Unfortunately the senility has set in making him a pitiful fool. She also goes to the bank and writes up papers giving a vast amount of gold to Dante. She agrees to give it to Dante as a down payment. Gwen demands Dante's company in her bed as payment. Dante reluctantly agrees and uses this time to feed off of Gwen. Gwen believes this to be simply part of the process of turning to vampirism. Gwen reveals to Dante that he cannot have any more money until her husband dies. She also reveals that if he ever were murdered she would be the prime suspect. Dante hatches a plan to ghoul another and force them to not only murder Rogal but to confess a plausible motive once they are quickly caught. He selects Chelsea. At first Gwen refuses and reveals that Chelsea is in fact her sister. Dante convinces Gwen this is acceptable since she will die anyway and relatively shortly within the span of Gwen's immortal life. Gwen and Chelsea go for a night on the town. Gwen even allows Chelsea to wear one of her extravagant gowns. As the night winds down Gwen drugs Chelsea's drink and has a servant carry her home. Dante ghouls Chelsea and in her stupor of waking up from the drugs Gwen begins setting the home on fire.
Dante pulls Chelsea from the home. He tells Chelsea she started the fire because she was jealous of the wealth Gwen married into. Gwen and Dante take Chelsea to the guards in Jhelom. They tell the guards that there was an argument between the women. Chelsea confesses and is taken into custody. Gwen has a small service for Rogal despite his body being turned to ashes. Gwen finalizes the papers passing her inheritance onto Dante. Dante gladly accepts the money without turning Gwen into a vampire. Days later Gwen goes to Dante's rented home in Malas to demand her immortality for the money. She catches him instead with another woman. She gets into bed with the two and slits the naked woman's throat. Dante only becomes more excited with the introduction of blood. After having his fill of blood he turns his attention to Gwen making love to her on top of the dead body. He finally makes her a vampire. As her first meal as a vampire she drinks the rest of the dead woman's blood. He explains some basic rules of vampirism.
Gwen left and wasn't seen by Dante for several weeks. She found it hard to live penniless despite her new advantages. Still aside from a few mysterious deaths the authorities were investigating she managed alright. Left with few options she returned to Dante. She pleaded her case for Dante to support her as her late husband had. Dante agreed as she was already familiar with the staff that ran the Jhelom Tailors Guild. He gave her an apartment above his studio on the western shore of the northern island of Jhelom. The situation was hardly what she was used to but it fulfilled her needs and was still better than how she had started out in life.

About the High Command of the Crimson Shadow Syndicate

Name: Rogal Ravenwood Race: Human Wraith Age: 72 Height: 5'6” Weight: 0lbs Eyes: Grey Appearance: A hunched over crippled looking shadow of a man hovers just inches above the ground stands before you. His robe drags along the ground hiding he fact that his feet never touch the ground. A crooked smile is always on his aged sickly face. His bare fingers appear to be stained black with lividity stains.

It was Dante's second night on the new shard that he met Rogal Ravenwood. Outwardly Rogal was at best a muttering mass of flesh and at worst completely catatonic. But internally Rogal had full consciousness and to a certain degree managed a way to project his consciousness to far corners of the world. His consciousness was in fact trapped in a parallel shadow realm usually reserved for the dead. It was also a realm Dante being a vampire could detect. Rogal explained that he had taken precautions to ensure immortality using fetters. In the spiritual dual with his second wife he had been bound to a fetter, his own body, only able to project his consciousness throughout the world but not being able to exert his will or make his presence known. Dante had seen this type of curse before. He mentioned the easiest way to break the curse was to destroy the fetter Rogal was trapped in. Rogal was sure he had once seen a tome discussing a different ritual to break the curse but couldn't truly be sure due to the level of concentration he was afforded during his astral projections. Still Rogal agreed to the plan. A little over a month passes and Chelsea sets Ravenwood Manor ablaze thus killing and releasing Rogal from his binding fetter. Rogal's next conscious moment came when he was being artificially bound to a gold ring worn by Dante. The ring itself was enchanted binding Rogal to Dante's will.

About the Coven of Interrupted Life (C.O.I.L.)

Name: Phillip Phaegenn Race: Human Age: 71 Height: 5'4” Weight: 136lbs Eyes: Brown Appearance: An elderly man with a pale grey tone to his wrinkled weathered face. His long black hair and long black beard are bushy unkempt and greying. He is extremely skinny. His arthritic hands have long thin fingers. On the back of his right forearm is a tattoo of a nearly full hour glass.

After hiding and running through the wilderness on their way to Jhelom they stop off at the Kil'This' personal factory just outside Skara Brea. Kil'this presents the three kleptomaniac girls magnetic gloves making stealing just that more easy. He grants their Orc protector a set of axes made from flint each with a small ampule chamber for a highly flammable liquid. For Phillip the gift was a large heavy metal map of the known facets. The map had a finely tuned metal marker that always seemed to align approximately at Kil'this' factory. Kil'this then gave them a modest ship sending them towards the North Island of Jhelom. As they moved the magnetic marker moved appropriately. They finally arrived at the North Island of Jhelom as Ravenwood manor was being rebuilt as Darkheart Manor. Chelsea introduced her crime partners and their Orc protector to Dante. Dante requests a private audience with each. During Phillip's meeting with Dante, Dante lays out his plans for a Freeport just off the coast of Jhelom and further explains his need for a band of less than scrupulous sailors to do business with. Phillip explained he was just the man for the job to gather those pirates and smugglers.

Name: Magnus Singh Race: Human Age: 52 Height: 5'11” Weight: 147lbs Eyes: Grey Appearance: A tall skinny man with well weathered skin. He appears to be naturally bald. Celtic style tattoos arch around the back of his head from ear to ear.

Magnus first met Dante on Dante's fifth day on the shard. Dante explained how he was making his way around the various cities trying to get to know this new population. Magnus was pleased to meet to meet Dante and was quite aware of what Dante was right from the start. The two traded a few necromantic secrets. Magnus even gave Dante a small device he called the Spire. Dante graciously thanked Magnus and went on his way.
Dante returned the spire back to Magnus mentioning he had begun building something of a Freeport not far from Jhelom. He invited Magnus to come visit. When Magnus arrived he saw that it was intentionally meant for smugglers to drop off their recently lost or stolen cargo to be held for a time and price. Dante explained the need for master smugglers and pirates. Magnus described a mythic man of the old pirating industry, Phillip Phaegenn. A man Chelsea had also described had been captured years earlier to Dante. Magnus mentioned an experiment he had set loose, Dan’Tub that could stage an escape.
Dante returned after learning Magnus was the Vizier of Nujel'm during the excavation of the Moon Ruby. Magnus told Dante about his fall from power and that his usurper Elam Enoch was the only one who knew all of the vaults secrets that hid the Moon Ruby. Dante assured Magnus that harm would come to Elam soon after Dante obtained the Moon Ruby.
Weeks later Magnus walked into his office to find a newspaper clipping weighted down to his desk with a small chunk of unrefined Moon Ruby. The newspaper clipping told of the Dark Orders occupation of Nujel'm and the imprisonment and likely execution of government officials.
A few more months passed before Dante appeared again asking if Magus would be looking for a new job running an Orphanage. Dante mentioned he had interviewed a handful of possible headmasters but none seemed to possess all the skills Dante valued. Namely the art of necromancy. Magnus agreed thinking back to Dante's suggested role in Elam’s eventual fate.

About Ophiophagus Foundation Orphanage

Name: Dan’tub Race: Orc Age: 14 Height: 5'9" Weight: 213lbs Eyes: Yellow Appearance: an unusual albino Orc. His whole body is covered in burn wounds that have scarred over long ago. He has many piercings on his face and ears that tend to change each time you see him. He carries two crude hand axes. Several pouches dangle from his belt that smell of pungent potent herbs.

When Dan'Tub finally landed on the shores of the North Island of Jhelom with the four human convicts he was surprisingly warmly greeted by Dante himself. When it came time for his interview his master, Magnus, appeared. Together the three hashed out a rough plan for Dan'Tub to follow that played to an orcs' natural tendencies. Dante even gave Dan'Tub a ship and pointed him in the direction of the secluded Far Northern Island of Jhelom. Dante and Magnus sent him with a load of supplies the Orc would find useful when raiding other ships.

About the Viper Clan Orcs

Goons

Name: Chelsea Dagger Race: Human Age: 21 Height: 5’2” Weight: 112lbs Eyes: Green Appearance: A freckled young girl with chubby cheeks and a round nose. Her fingers always seem to be moving. Her bangs cover her eyes making you wonder how she can see. A roulette wheel is tattooed on the back of her left calve. On the back of her right calve is a tattoo of an empty hour glass. Several rose petals are tattooed cascading down her right arm.

Wandering through the streets of Jhelom on an unusually high traffic day due to a good fight in the pits of Jhelom Chelsea saw a seemingly young handsome yet lost man. He seemed like an easy target for her kleptomaniac ways. Just as soon as she dipped her hand into his pocket while his gaze seemed to be averted he grabbed her hand. Instead of striking her the man introduced himself as "Darkheart, Dante Darkheart" and went on to commend her technique despite failing. He seemed to treat her sleight of hand as a game. He toyed with her commanding her to try to steal from him. He turned around and still caught her. He covered his eyes and again caught her. The two played their game for a bit before Chelsea decided to introduce Dante to her sister and Baroness of the Jhelom Tailor's guild. Chelsea brought Dante to the private VIP booth reserved for House Ravenwood where Gwen sat with some of her vapid entourage. Gwen ascertains that Dante is an artist and a flattering man for a vain woman with waning beauty. She commissions Dante as an artist. After an evening and a half Dante produces a portrait that accentuates Gwen's beauty while downplaying her flaws. Chelsea is ordered by her older sister to escort mr. Darkheart to Gwen closest friends throughout the realm to meet them.
By Dante's fifth day on the new shard Chelsea and Dante set out. They first sail to New Haven in Trammel to meet the Storm Twins. Chelsea records Dante's cordial meeting with the Storm Twins who oddly look a great deal like Dante. Dante almost treats them in a fatherly way. Also while in New Haven Dante makes a stop at the local Necromancy school where he meets Magnus Singh. The two trade secrets of necromancy. Again Chelsea documents their exchange trying to be secretive. From there Dante made his way to the coastal Trammel Towns where he met many others such as Judas D'Arc and Jolicia. The next stop after Trammel was Ter Mur to meet Fangrol in the Royal City. Dante met with Fangrol, again their meeting was recorded by Chelsea. The two saw each other as idealists and schemers, kindred spirits. After Ter Mur Dante wished to see his favorite facet Tokuno, this time to meet with Uriko Hamza. Again the cordial meeting over a traditional tea ceremony was recorded by Chelsea. One note observed by Chelsea was that Dante did not ever actually drink the tea. After Tokuno Dante was brought to Kil'this Kil'tan's factory just outside Skara Brea in Felucca. Dante managed to amuse Kil'this with a few plans for various contraptions. Again Chelsea was there to record the meeting. They stayed the day and Chelsea sleeps with Kil'This. Their next stop was supposed to be Jhelom to present the landscapes to Gwen. Instead Dante ordered a detour to Fire Isle. Dante demanded Chelsea stay with to ship on the shore and stay hidden as he walked alone into the jungle. He returned a day later and they sailed back to Jhelom just before dawn. Dante sleeps the rest of the day in the ships hold before waking he next evening to present the commissioned works of art. Chelsea tells Gwen more of Dante's strange behavior.
Ten days later Gwen and Chelsea go for a night on the town.
Six days later Chelsea, on her way to prison, is broken free during an attack by an Orc named Dan'tub. Chelsea and another prisoner named Phillip Phaegenn make their way to Skara Brea where they meet up with Kil'this. Kil'this grants each in the group a trinket. For Chelsea, Anna, and Holly a set of gloves with magnets in the fingers making it easier to pick pockets. For Chelsea's orc savior Dan'Tub he is granted a pair of axes made of flint. Finally Chelsea's mentor Phillip is granted a large metal map with a magnetic marker. Kil'this charters a ship and sends them on their way to Jhelom.
Upon returning to Jhelom the crew are separated by Dante and debriefed one by one. Dante explains to Chelsea to go about her life as a thief with Anna and Holly as they had before. He made a special point to have her keep an eye out for those with like talents and to send them his way.
A few months passed; Red Fang Pointe was nearing completion. Chelsea and her friends were careful not to get caught this time around. They even managed to convince some smugglers to pick up jobs under with Dante. Dante one evening approached Chelsea, Anna, and Holly with a job he had planned. He laid out the overlapping schematics and explained they would have to lose their way through a maze to ultimately find a chest and bring it back to Dante. As it turned out he needed help stealing the Moon Ruby due to various properties of the vault. He needed Chelsea and her girls to create a diversion to distract several guards before another team finished the job. Chelsea was told not to tell Holly and Anna that they were going after the Moon Ruby.
When the three girls arrived in Luna they purchased some horses and began riding south to the Sun Vault. From what Dante had told her it was appeared on the outside as a large marble cube. Once stepping inside the main entrance was the only part that remained constant. After that room all the rooms up until the central vault had a tendency change. On top of that the walls were infused with the light of the sun, this made it entirely impossible for Dante to complete this task himself. She was not informed regarding the central vault and how to obtain the Moon Ruby. That was left to the second team. By the time they reached the vault they released a series of blade spirits to mow down the nearby pixie tree and pixies. The girls knew this would draw the attention of the paladin guards hired by the Sultan and Vizier of Nujel'm to protect the vault. As the guards came upon the tree the girls shot them down from the shadows with repeating crossbows with poisoned bolts. Again more guards heard the screams and came to investigate. And again the girls threw bottles of conflagration potion burning the rest alive. They picked off those still barely alive and headed for the front door of the vault. A half dozen fully armed guards poured out of the doors. The girls announced themselves as escaped convicts further baiting the guards. The girls hopped on their horses and rode off. The guards fell into their trap and began to chase the girls. Only three guards now remained at the vault unable to leave their post. During the ride Chelsea whispered in her communication crystal to Dante. Dante opened a moongate for the girls to ride through. The guards only managed to reach the gate a second after it closed and a second too late to stop themselves from riding off the edge of the continent to their deaths. Chelsea told Dante the number of casualties. Dante was pleased. Since the heist Chelsea, Holly, and Anna have maintained a low profile living out of the Freeport of Red Fang Pointe.

About the Dreadnox Pirates

Name: Holly Day Race: Human Age: 21 Height: 5'3” Weight: 113lbs Eyes: Brown Appearance: A dusky young girl who appears to be a native of Jhelom. Her mocha colored skin looks soft and supple. Her frizzy hair is often sticking straight out in a near perfect ball. Still she wears a red ribbon just at her hairline. On the back of her right calve is a tattoo of an empty hour glass.

After being broken free by the Orc they made a stop just outside Skara Brea where they meet up with Kil'this Kil'tan. Kil'this grants each in the group a trinket. Holly was hardly curious about exactly she was stealing as she was promised to be well compensated.

Name: Anna Conda Race: Human Age: 21 Height: 5'1” Weight: 107lbs Eyes: Green Appearance: A petite young woman with a high pitched voice. She is reasonably toned form is quite attractive despite a lone scar that starts just below her left ear and traces down her throat. Investors

Name: Kil'this Kil'tan Race: Moon Elf Age: 128 Height: 6'1” Weight: 152lbs Eyes: Green Appearance: A young eleven man. His shoulder length black hair is slicked back. His body is covered with hundreds of tiny tally marks scarred into his flesh. He has an assortment of various daggers and needles tucked into his belt bracers and boots.

After Tokuno Dante was brought to Kil'this Kil'tan's factory just outside Skara Brea in Felucca. Dante managed to amuse Kil'this with a few plans for various contraptions. Mostly of the weapons variety, namely a small bomb that can be attached to pigeon feet along with a timed detonation mechanism. They even traded golem variant designs. Again Chelsea was there to record the meeting. They stayed the day and Chelsea sleeps with Kil'This.
A few weeks later Kil'this receives a letter explaining visitors will come knocking soon and he would be rewarded to aid them. A day passed before Chelsea and some of her friends arrive at his door. Kil'this grants each in the group a trinket. For Chelsea, Anna, and Holly a set of gloves with magnets in the fingers making it easier to pick pockets. For Anna's orc savior Dan'Tub he is granted a pair of axes made of flint. Finally Chelsea's mentor Phillip is granted a large metal map with a magnetic marker. Kil'this charters a ship and sends them on their way to Jhelom. Days later an overly appropriate amount of gold is deposited into his private Vesperian bank account.
A few months pass and Dante returns with the idea of a Freeport. He explains to Kil'this that cannons cannonballs and other ship weaponry will be needed for the sailors, smugglers, and pirates he plans on employing. Kil'this agrees to supply the weaponry and various gadgets needed.
Kil'this has since maintained residency at his factory. He has sold off many of the plans Dante gave him with slight modifications. The plans have proved so popular the Tinkerer's guild have requested his return to their ranks. Still he has maintained independent as to keep his prices high. In turn Kil'this financially contributes to Dante's plans when asked.

Name: Rosette Storm Race: Human Age: 23 Height: 5'3" Weight: 102lbs Eyes: Blue Appearance: a beautiful young lady with sharp angular facial features. Her long shiny black hair is pulled into two tightly wrapped buns. She shares many distinguishing features with her twin Roman Storm.

Name: Roman Storm Race: Human Age: 23 Height: 5'9" Weight: 167 Eyes: Blue Appearance: A handsome young man. His face has sharp angular features. His shiny black hair is slicked back. Many of his features are mirrored in his twin Rosetta Storm.

By Dante's fifth day on the new shard Chelsea and Dante set out. They first sail to New Haven in Trammel to meet the Storm Twins. They met in the local tavern of the inn the twins were staying at this week. With Rosette Dante discussed fashion food as she was wearing a new dress she had just recently purchased at the local tailor. Roman and Dante discussed ways to flatter women and drink. The twins told Dante of a lovely tour they took with a man from the Necromancy school in New Haven. Chelsea records Dante's cordial meeting with the Storm Twins who oddly look a great deal like Dante. Dante almost treats them in a fatherly way.
A few months later while visiting with Gwen they hear of Dante's plan for a Freeport. Roman expressed interest in the idea and explained to Rosette that it could possibly make it easier to get new garments. After which Rosette became interested as well. Gwen sends the twins to meet with Dante concerning the details. Dante tells the twins the plan and it’s just money that is needed to start construction. After that they will share in the profits whether monetary or material.

About the Naja Trade Company

Name: Fangrol Race: Gargoyle Age: 43 Height: 6'8" Weight: 268lbs Eyes: Yellow Appearance: Muscular even by Gargish standards. Several sharp horns line his jaw line. Three approximately equal sized scars run down the left of his face, neck, and end just above his abdomen.

The next stop after Trammel was Ter Mur to meet Fangrol in the Royal City. Dante met with Fangrol, again their meeting was recorded by Chelsea. The two saw each other as idealists and schemers, kindred spirits. Fangrol bragged about his position in Queen Zhah's court as Dante gave the gargoyle a tattoo of a lunar eclipse. Of course Dante knew a liar when he saw one yet still respected the gargoyle's position and fortune that comes with it. After Ter Mur Dante wished to see his favorite facet Tokuno.
Months later Kil'this approaches Fangrol regarding a business opportunity. Kil'this explains Dante's interest in building a Freeport just outside Jhelom in Felucca. All the would be needed was startup money and after that Fangrol would be paid back with interest and entered into a profit sharing scheme. Fangrol left Ter Mur with Kil'this for Felucca to meet with Dante to discuss terms. Dante explained both his legitimate and illegitimate business models and expressed the projected profit sharing percentages but noted more investors were expected. Fangrol agreed and the first installment was signed off and sent. Fangrol even pledged some of his masons to help build the Freeport.

Name: Uriko Hamza Race: Human Age: 31 Height: 5'8" Weight: 147lbs Eyes: Brown Appearance: A small athletic man. Often wearing traditional Tokunoese garb. Two swords are often tucked into the back if his belt. On his right forearm is a tattoo of the Serpents Fang Ninja Clan with two scars in an 'X' over it. The rest of his arms, chest, and back are covered in scars as well. His black hair is often slicked back.

After Ter Mur Dante wished to see his favorite facet Tokuno, this time to meet with Uriko Hamza. Again the cordial meeting over a traditional tea ceremony was recorded by Chelsea. Dante had earned Uriko's trust by telling Uriko of his time working for the Travesty and Minax at the Citadel on his previous shard. One note observed by Chelsea was that Dante did not ever actually drink the tea. After Tokuno Dante was brought to Kil'this Kil'tan's factory just outside Skara Brea in Felucca.
