Deminatza dipped the quill then pressed it to the parchment and penned:

My dearest Scaramandine

She shook her head, crumpled up the missive and began again.

Scar,

I would like to apologize for my behavior these few days we have spent together. I should not assume nor be so forward as to touch you so affectionately. It is not my place nor my right to do so. You had said let us begin anew and get to know one another again, and yet here I was acting like a lovesick schoolgirl. Please find comfort in knowing, I shall no longer behave so poorly. I humbly beg your forgiveness.

She rolled up the letter, binding it with a deep blue cloth. As she walked down the staircase, the effects of the tonic beginning to set in, she stopped one of the couriers for the monks.

“Would you please deliver this to Papua Inn to Sc..,” she thought a moment.
“Actually, give it to the inn keeper, Oren. Give him my name and he will know who to deliver it to.”

She reached for her coin purse, but the courier stopped her.

“I shall deliver your letter at once milady. No need for payment.”

Deminatza thanked him then sought the refuge of her bed.

No one knows how much time we have to be with the people who are most important she pondered as sleep overcame her.
