Forever Night:

And the mighty maw of the beast spewed rounds of fiery death on the warrior Arieus. His sword and shield a fury of light, as the sheer size of the creature along with the magical barrage of energy and flames continued unabated. Arieus was slowly being broken and battered, he knew nothing but the moment, but as the last few embers of his life soon approached, reminders came in mystic waking dreams.

He remembered his wonderful times with former Knights of Sosaria, for he dearly considered all of them friends. If there was an afterlife, he hoped to keep the memory of their smiles. He remembered the fiery light in some of the legends now past, and though how ironic he would never join them among the highest of honors, yet he smiled knowing he had likely made a difference.

The warrior Arieus would never be a knight, and he cared not. He would never again hold his love in arms that expressed only love, and he never again would see House De’Chevia, his brother Daynle, Austin, or even the ever lurking Rowland. He had lived a good honest life, tried his best at everything, and that was good enough. He smiled.

Now the strong sword arm of Arieus fell in a crumpled mass, mauled by the wyrm to a hideous mess. His bold sword fell to the cavern floor with a crash, and his shield was blown to parts unknown. Armor wretchedly and mortally melted or totally annihilated, all but gone. Blood poured from his numerous wounds, and his last breath was not one of hatred, but one of hope:

“May someday true virtue shine in Sosaria”!

…and then he died.
