Cat looked up at Striker and tried to make him understand. As tears streamed down her face she admitted to the guilt she felt over Bree being taken by the Atalan.
They had never hurt Cat. She didnt realize how horrible the red robed people could be until they took a child and treated her with such hatred and violence.

Striker began to ask questions. She answered them with as much information as she could. Yes, she had signed a paper. But she hadnt paid attention to all the words and they had rushed her. She had gotten cookies and helped them with a treasure hunt. That was all they had asked of her.
Striker didn't seem pleased with her at all. He spoke about helping get Bree back. When Cat said she would go too, he said that might make things worse.

Late that night Cat sat in her chair piled with pillows. She stared into the flames of the crackling fire. The meeting Molly had called had left her angry and confused. Angry that even a child's life couldn't bring people to a common goal. Confusion because she still didn't know how Bree would be freed.
She was happy that Ditto was safe and had not carried through on her statement to harm herself for Bree's sake.

When she thought of Striker she pictured his face in her mind. His handsome features drawn into a disappointed frown. Cat wondered if maybe Striker was having second thoughts about becoming involved with a woman with so much turmoil in her life. If he walked away she would miss him terribly but she would understand.

Before falling asleep Cat said a prayer that Bree would be rescued soon and that the Atalan people would pay for what they had done.
