The Orcs were so very near and dear to Ditto's heart. She had come to love these Urks as she had the Stormreavers of the past, though their ways were different in some aspects. A big part of her did not want to leave the fort and her new found friends, yet to stay with them would impede her current mission in Sosaria. She felt that to allow herself to be "officially" adopted with ceremony would somehow dishonor the clan since she had no intention of living with them forever and because of the other aquaintances she needed to confer with. Ditto herself may not be bound to those invisible lines that others set for themselves, racial lines, belief lines, ect, but she knew enough to respect the way of others. To live with the Orcs while reconnecting with some who were their enemies could be seen like a slap in their face, or worse, someone may think to use her against them. Even Tarothin knew better than to ask her to do anything against Orcs.
It was odd how things had so far turned out in her life. Her people thought themselves superior above all others. They had felt that the other races were just there to be slaves. Elves, humans, dwarves, orcs..all. They had learned to hate both the humans and the orcs more than the other races yet, here Ditto was: tidying up an orc-fort, while married to a human. No wonder her own father had disowned her. She smiled sadly, remembering the last time she'd seen her father. The day she was banished from the family. All because she loved a man who championed for Order and not Chaos. The evil part never bothered her father....the lawfulness of Tarothin's ways while he courted his daughter were overlooked. He never thought Ditto would actually choose to marry him however, and that called for one of two actions. Kill or banish her. Ditto was never one for ultimatums. The Lord Quantum knew his daughter would follow her heart, and sadly, he said goodbye, packed up his household, and left his daughter behind forever. Her actions, her choice, could never be undone in his eyes or the eyes of her people. But it WAS her choice, and remains so to this day. Ditto's heart dictated her actions always, no matter the destruction that it might cause. No matter the pain. And it was with this heart that Ditto loved the orcs dearly. They were her breath of fresh air when all the order of home became stiffling. When all the rules people thought were so important tried to impede upon Ditto's wants. Life was meant to be enjoyed, savored, exploited, and the orcs enjoyed life with abandon in their own way. Fighting for fun, drinking, expelling gases. They knew what a good time was to them.
Not sure if whoever found the note would be able to read it, she stuck a parchment on the wall with a knife in plain view.
" Dear Urks,
Dabu for treating me so well while I was here. This is not goodbye, but I can not stay with the clan. I have friends that may want to use me to hurt you and I will not let that happen. I will visit and bring prezzies. Shinies and horses.
Love you all, even the mean one.
Your femmie friend,
Ditto Armunn"
Hiking up her long skirts, Ditto left the fort for her next order of business, and promise to her husband: She would seek out Isk.
She was anxious to reconnect with Lord Isk. He always kept her on her toes. In some ways he was more dangerous than an entire fort full or Orcs. His nonhuman view point was well known, and though he may never formally call Ditto a friend, they had had a certain understanding in the past. Despite the fact that he'd tried poisoning her right in front of her husband, Isk was another person that Ditto treasured in her heart. She respected him. That was a rare thing with her, respect. There were very few that would affect her enough to cause her to willingly curb her ways around them. Very few. Isk, however, was one of them, and in the coming days that would be tested with such a small seeming request.
She travelled the woods by day and by night she slept under the stars. Fresh air, no rules,.... life was bliss, except for one thing. She was lost. Ditto had started out correctly. Her target was Cat's home, to get cleaned up and maybe ask her best friend to tailor her up a nice new dress appropriate for meeting with Lord Isk. At least something that didn't smell of orc urine. Travelling by boat had proved dangerous and she'd enjoyed it but decks were confining and travelled over land as much as possible. Chasing shiney things that caught her eye, and avoiding cows at all costs, it wasn't long before she could no longer find a road. She didn't even know what territory she was in most of the time. Not that she minded. Ditto was quite use to being lost. And she knew how to survive in the forests, especially with conjured food available. For a journey that would normally have taken her 3 days the way she chose to travel, she arrived at Cat's house nearly a month later.
A brief search of the house, revealed no Cat, so, setting down a tray of cookies and a glass of red wine with a note saying To Cat, From Ditto, she sat down to write a letter to her Dark Knight, Tarothin. She hoped he would not be too worried that she'd not been able to write him as she had been but she was sure he'd understand when she explained that she'd gotten lost in the woods.
As she wrote, Ditto absent mindedly began eating the cookies for Cat, and drinking her wine. Since the letter was rather lengthy, she'd ended up eating all but half a cookie on the tray and drinking most of the wine. Not realising it, Ditto then headed upstairs to clean herself up and search out a tavern to begin her search first for Cat, then for Isk. _________________ Dark Lady Ditto Armunn
