|
Since the Centralized Roleplay Spot Post is getting so big I am starting a new thread regarding my suggestion for getting more activity going.
Thankyou for all your responses replies and opinions. In this post http://www.atlanticcommunityboard.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28106&start=45
This has helped alot to tailor my ideas to what the community wants as a whole. It has been difficult because there is alot of conflictory feelings on this ideal of centralized roleplay. So I have come up with the best possible solution to try and get as many of you as are willing involved.. At this point, ACTION is needed. Test runs at the various places have yielded the basic truths. Some people will go one place others look forward to another. There is no one place anymore that people want to gather. People are online varying days and times as well.
My Suggestion follows:
In order to facilitate more visible RP and get us in game more, a second planned night of activity each week similar to Tavern night but NOT a tavern night strictly is what I am proposing. My proposal entails using the places above as well as others that are not necessarily taverns, to facilitate more then just the Tavern RP. I would like to invite those with the creativity and the drive to host some of these locations, whether you are a whole guild or an individual matters little.
For Example it would look like this on our weekly rotation(please note these are only examples):
Wednesday November 30th-Gathering at Dueces vinniculum Ilshenar, sponsored by Lady Nightshade. Description-(Help Nightshade Collect power crystals from Exodus, Then enjoy a bounty of food and drinks in thanks for your efforts.)
Monday December 5th- Tavern night
Thursday December 8th-ODE invites you to the Lush house for Ale Tasting, Nominate the best ale and come up with a special name for it.
Monday December 12th-Tavern night
Tuesday December 13th-Battle at the Orc fort in Cove, Come help or destroy the Orcs as they bid to hold the Orc fort in cove. (pvp involved, arpc community pvp rules in force)
** What I am suggesting is a second rotating event night added to the same list as our tavern rotation. If we have a week where no one can run an event or tavern we can always pick a fun NPC location to hang out, such as the Tavern in britain or the one in Skara, or hang out in Newhaven and get new people into our community. The ARPC support staff can jump in and help you to! Extra characters needed, drinks, waitressing, gating ect.
The beauty is, anyone can do it, a guild or an individual. Again this would be a small weekly planned rotating event at rotating locations similar to Tavern night it is not to take the place of people still doing big events or tavern night. It is to add more rp and a location where more people know they can go to rp.
Please give me your feedback and suggestions below OR sign up to be involved by posting below or Pming me!

While I assume everyone is capable of spontaneous RP and we all do it quite frequently, I do get the feeling that more people generally turn out if something is set in stone.
Doing a rotation akin to but separate from Tavern night could do a lot of good I think, particularly so if the emphasis is on hosting at a location that is not the tavern with some sort of purpose in mind.
Whether its a hunt, or mining, some form of pvp, an archery contest, whatever -- I think it would be a fun way to get things going. _________________ "You see I can not be forsaken, because I'm not the only one. We walk amongst you, beating, r#ping, must we hide from everyone?" - Jon Davis |

From last Sunday I'd say it's obvious that if you point your finger and have it set in stone, people will go. So I am liking this idea, especially because it's not going to be another tavern night. This requires more from us as RPers than sitting in a tavern and drinking. |

The only thing I Could suggests is this maybe if we post more events on stratics that way people can see it. If we make another schedule we need to let it be out to everyone. Not everyone comes to the arpc boards to see what is going or even know about them. It would give us more public exposure and encourage people to come play _________________ What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.

I am in total support of this. The possibilities are endless, and it opens up the chance of more interaction with both Role-Players and those who are interested in the community that are not apart of it.
Those who run multiple characters would greatly benefit from this as well. I suspect it will give one a choice to enroll their character in specific activities in which "role-play wise" would give them a reason to actually be there. The possibilities are so wide that people should be able choose what events their characters will best be interested in going to.
Mind you being able to have these events going weekly or even monthly will require some dedication from the community and individual guilds who wish to host such events. |

I love the idea...but I would addendum another thing, something I've been thinking about.
The Monday night tavern night we currently do is a good thing, but your week idea has some merit too.
Back in the day....
We used taverns as RP hubs. People would show up at random anytime and things would go on there. Random RP has lead to some very memorable and shard historical things. Why not in addition to the second weekly event, expand the Tavern a little? Monday night is organized and hosted with the inn owner/operators facilitating. The rest of that week, why not designate that in the weekly"Hub". Basically, if you're in game, and you want to RP go there. I know I would log in more if I knew I could get on, and immediately go somewhere and just walk into a RP situation. The taverns get more use, and we have something hearkening back to our origins at the Hungry Halfling/Wandering Wisp/Serpent Cross. The host doesn't have to do anything extra, other than placing a tavernkeeper if they don't already have one. Give the RPer's enough direction so it's easy to find others but the freedom to do whatever. TBH - its the random interaction with people you don't normally see or RP with that leads to fresh ideas and plots being run. It also gives people an excuse to just log in.
My 2 cents. _________________

I thank you for your positive attitudes. I thank you all for your offers to help. I will start this upon the new year rotation. If you could all start thinking in advance of ideas for fun things we could do I would appreciate it. I will help implement and serve.
Joanna I appreciate the offer to advertise it definitely takes some weight off me.
Those of you willing to host events we shall speak soon! Thankyou soooo so much!
Those who have written such nice things about how cool this can be you are the reason I keep going!
Instead of focusing on what is wrong with the ARPC, lets focus on whats right, and try to feed it so it grows.
This will be a great tool for bringing in new people as I intend that we roleplay in haven and skara and britain and all the places where people go.
I also hope that some fun events will come of this that I will get a sampling of others creative minds. I know you guys are out there keep up the good work!
I absolutely can't do this alone, I humbly ask for all of your help! So lets go! Most importantly lets have fun! _________________ May destiny guide you... |

wOOt wOOt. Ok this post makes more sense to me. We have the sit down and have a pint night so make a lets go kill an orc night!
So basically like tavern night, it will be a weekly rotation of smaller events right? This could work. Smaller quests or something or event a guild plans out. Hmm thoughts are rolling.
So merci what would you like from us? Ideas? People to host? I am willing to do both. |
