As the Orcs rampaged across the land, Nyxanna had found her size to be daunting. To often the small female stared up at an Orc three times her size. Though she had grit and stood at times against them she often found these encounters did not go so well for her. How did one of her stature, 4'9 and 95 puny pounds stand against creatures of such bulk and girth? So she was left with only one knowledge, make up her lacking of physical prowess as most mages did, within books and spells.
More research! That is what was needed! She knew from her grandmothers teachings that these creatures were experiments initially made by Mondain. He had been a wizard that created and destroyed worlds, evil by most standards. A child of Umbra, a first Generation WIT so they liked to call them, there had been little difference to her between good and evil. What had always counted for her was action and whether it benefited one and hurt others or benefited others and hurt one. She was very singular and direct in her beliefs. One simply chose at different times which to follow.
Mondains wicked ways surely did not stop the magical mind from pondering his technique, his abililty to mix magery and alchemy, two arts Nyxanna toyed with herself. She certainly did not wish to be like him or think that her powers were of any such ability. However one did not gain ability unless one tried new things.
So she availed herself of the Great Britain Library, with its countless books and rows of shelves. She also dropped into the Lyceum in Moonglow where Mages gathered often for learning and Knowledge. Then more secretively she headed to Winds, the mage city and sat herself down amongst their knowledge and began to read...
She had always been taught that the key to conquering an enemy was understanding it, knowing its flaws and strengths. Though all Orc clans were different it would not hurt to know of thier origin and history.
She felt a certain sense of purpose fill her as it never had before, a magical duty to her people. There were other ways of being useful. Something her father and grandfather and other family members had probably waited long and patiently to arise in Nyxanna. It was at this moment of dawning that her understanding exploded and to her great reward she paused her eyes alighting upon one passage..
Quote: | After Mondain's death, the Orcs fled to the dungeons until Minax proved herself as their master by mastering the creation of Orcs herself. |
Two eyes flashed blue then purple, and Mairsil' and Ceinwyn's granddaughter awoke. Indeed perhaps Nyxanna's toil had not been in vain. |
