It was time... and she was ready.
Magda Ruk, orcish High Priestess of Oggaroth (who, in her mind, was the fabled "Bludgod" of orcish legend) set out to meet the clan whom Durthagg, a long-time friend and half-orc, had told her about. She took the necromantic form of a banshee and, using the rune Durthagg had given her, journeyed to the Orc fort in Felucca.
She had not long to wait, as two Orcs appeared. She resumed her natural form and they were momentarily taken aback by her dark bone armor and deep crimson clothing---rune-embroidered cape and skirt. She had considered speaking to them in their, and her, native dialect, but decided against it. They must know that I have learned the speech of the humans and elves, if they are to respect me at all. She was not so far removed from the ways of her people that she could not remember the abuse she and all females often received by drunken male Orcs, or those who simply wished to pummel the weaker ones among them, regardless of gender. She wanted to make a good first impression, knowing full well that any missteps could make this first one, her last.
"Greetings," she said. "I am Magda Ruk."
The two Orcs were puzzled at first, but soon warmed up to her. She explained her purpose in seeking them out: "I want to help you. The Bludgod wants sacrifices of the enemies of the Urks, especially those of Magincia. Together, we can become powerful again."
They agreed, but seemed more interested in any ability she might have to get them females. Such a request was natural, and not unexpected. "I will do this for you. The male "Oomiez" shall be sacrificed to the Bludgod. The femmie ones you make keep," she told them. That sat well with them, and they howled with glee.
She promised to help them against their enemies, to bring them femmies, to give them shinies, to revive the fallen, and so forth. Opening a gate, she took them to her home, the temple of Oggaroth, invited them in, and showed them around. They came away, seemingly impressed and anxious to begin this new association. She felt similarly... like they were made for each other.
The seed has been sown! I have yet to meet their chief, but that is the only part yet undone with my plan. My "Bludgod" will make them powerful, and we shall retake our place atop this world, even if we bathe it in blood! _________________ "If a criminal has what you want, you do business with him." |
