Leaving the portal with his escort, Dharzhal found himself within the heart of New Magincia City. The escort, a tall, lanky, human merchant, paid him the standard escort fee, thanked him and quickly departed. The drow smiled and placed the gold in his pack, then turned his gaze to the surrounding buildings, merchant stalls, and gardens that comprised the rebuilt city. He had yet to walk its streets, so he decided now would be as good a time as any. After a slow walk around the market place, the sounds and smells of which nauseated him, he decided to venture inside what buildings he could, merely to view their sights and treasures.
"Decadent humans," he sneered derisively, as he viewed the splendor of their mansions' elaborate stonework and gilded frescoes.
As he prepared to leave, he caught sight of another building, a bit less ostentatious than the others... a unique blend of bronze pillars and Trinsic style stonework. Seeing no one inside, he entered and began perusing the interior. He seated himself at a large table and began to read the Humanis Manifesto. Anger welled up within him. He hastily copied what he could of it and exited, fuming with rage.
"This will not stand! It is difficult enough for me to travel unhindered as it is without the diatribes of this madman poisoning minds. He and his philosophy must be stopped. It begins now, but it shall end here as well." |

The dropped propaganda was spread out on the Magnate’s desk. Heavy booted footsteps echoed through the hall as Isk’s shadow caressed the desk, becoming larger and larger as he entered the room until he stood broodingly over the collection of books written by this upstart Dharzhal. With a shaking hand he opened the books, each one bore the same words.
“Interesting. Annoying.” He mumbled through his emotionless mask or porcelain as the pages flipped to his finger flicks. “He speaks of Humanis inequality, that we are harmful to society, that we are counter to balance.”
Isk closed the book. “Drivel. But it cannot stand. This Dharzhal will be dealt with harshly.” |
