High Atop a fortified mountain, the base jewel of Northern Malas, stood the massive complex that was House De’Chevia, also known as Dragonbane Citadel. It was here that Arieus pondered the recent Luna battle, the status of his men, and his own happiness.

The air was awash with slight flurries, and the battlement was quickly gaining a thin layer of snow. His gaze drifted to a single mutli-crystaled flake, which added a small yet important part to the gathering. He unsheathed his gauntlet and placed the tip of his finger atop the chilly wall, to remind him that his inner warmth was still intact.

Quickly being overcome with boredom, he journeyed to The Garden to grab an ale, and there found a familiar face or two. He enjoyed a drink, watched the goings on, and then afterwards, returned to The Citadel to plan for the next course of action.

It was with a sudden moment of clarity that it dawned on him, like a shower of cold water upon smooth skin, that a patron had simply said goodnight knight. For some reason this caused him to look inward, and his eyes narrowed at the thought of this. His maw took on a firm, stubborn expression. There were only two things that Arieus, the warrior, had ever hoped for.

This eve, he saw that one hope corrupt and the other one incorrect. He had found hope in the proverbial pickle jar again, and he had never been formally knighted. Behind this slap were other issues left, seemingly, forgotten. For the first time he inwardly questioned his faith. He began to scrutinize his loyalty. Perhaps most worrisome of all, he started to think he was in the wrong station in life. A quiet echo filled the void, mildly shattering silence:

“…We are all traveling on the broad level of time, to that undiscovered country, from whose borne, no traveler returns.”

Arieus was thus slowly beginning loose care, and his blue-green eyes then fluttered shut in enigmatic, deep thought. The ever lurking hand of evil, always where one least expects it …always.

Arcana restlessly stared out over Vesper from her rooftop garden. Watching the ships ply to and fro through her spyglass was ordinairly an entertaining diversion. The pile of paperwork and missives downstairs on her desk would certainly pass the time as well, though it was neither entertaining nor diverting under the best of circumstances. Given the circumstances she'd created for herself, she found even tending her beloved roses a sad chore.

This morning had brought a feeling of sinking dread along with the predicted splitting headache. Nuances, some not so subtle, that she'd been too muddled to notice last night had picked themselves out from her subconscious during sleep, and she pieced them together quite clearly now. They left her with the unshakable feeling that she'd lost something uncalculably prescious to her... Arieus' respect.

So she departed to seek him out, by no means certain, but very much hoping that he would still want to see her.
