"A clean glass an' a egg Stephanie..." Arlin mumbled almost incoherently. The barmaid scrambeled for her bosses requestes, and soon came up with the items. Arlin cracked open the egg into the shot glass, pinched his nose, and downed the foul brew. The barmaid looked over in disgust, and the half-ogre turned to her, smiling softly. "Hangover remedy..."
He dragged himself off the stool, and upstairs to his private garden. It had been a long time since he had a hangover. He almost missed them, untill a resounding thud slammed through his head. He groand and lowered himself in front of what had become his favorite flower. An almost golden rose, that stood straight up on its thick stem. He trimmed it gently, keeping the area around it clear of any intruding plants. His classic hangover remdedy finally kicking in, Arlin made his way to the meeting chambers.
No responses to his missives yet. He was becomming desperate now. Arcana had promised him relief, but he was weary to ask it from her. He had already asked so much of her, and despite thier obvious fondness for each other, he hated to relay on her even as much as he did. He grumbled despite himself. He had enjoyed himself last night, he enjoyed all the time he spent with his lady knight. Disappointed though he was he went home alone, he checked his cloak pocket and smiled. Arcana was full of surprises, and the more he learned, the more he liked...maybe even...
Arlin shook his head. No time for such thoughts. He took out his pad, andread over his notes. So, her favorite food was fish eh? Arlin never had been much of a seafood kinda guy, but he was a more than competant chef. Living in the wilds back from the Yew Militia had sort of forced him to learn. Looking over his check list, he walked downstairs with a grin on his face. Arcana was full of surprises, but so was he.
Besides, she still had his necklace, and some rather incriminating stories about the hardend half-ogre. He had to stay on her good side, or at least get something good to blackmail her with. _________________ As the fire fades to night, remember always the ember that started it all. |
