As I have just returned from a self imposed hiatus from UO, I thought a nice way to reacclimate myself to RP would be to host an event. Generic title, I know, and worse, I will not be creating flyers for The Messenger's Log, so just pretend the event is posted at community bulletin boards everywhere, and that everyone is invited.

The event is a competition which will entail going out into the world and answering specific questions about specific sites that I am currently dreaming up. There will be 20 questions, and a one hour time limit to scour the world for the answers.

A knowledge of landmarks, curious sites, dungeons and the like will prove useful, but be forewarned, some questions involve visitting dangerous places, so being able to handle yourself will be key.

The person with the most correct answers will win a prize, as will second and third place. In the event that several people tie, whomever turned in their book first will win. Entries after the hour is up will not be counted.

Ideally, I'd like to see characters' paths cross randomly, and for the world to throw curveballs into organized planning. On top of that, I'd love to see this event's aftermath include IC posts about the adventures experienced by all.

The event will take place Wed. May 25th at 9pm EST at the Twin Oaks Tavern in Ilshenar. I will provide food and drink, and hope that during, and then afterwards, folks will stick around and engage in random rp.

As both a bump, and a way of sharing information, I thought I'd drop some tidbits.

My questions are just about set, and they all involve areas in Ilshenar only. I thought that would be challenging (no recalling within Ilsh) and it made sense to streamline the locale. Therefore, if you'd like to make yourself more familiar with Ilshenar and its more interesting or out of the way spots, please feel free.

A quick note: Twin Oaks Tavern, where the event will begin and end, is a minefield of pixies, wisps, and unicorns, so those of you with negative karma might want to be wary. As I am running the event unguilded, and completely solo, there will be no safe escorts.

So that ought to be fun.

This info is worth the 'bump' and just dawned on me today.

It may be important for those of you who run enhanced graphics to dumb down to classic graphics for my event. For one, I may see locations and such differently than those of you in enhanced, thus spoiling your answers to my questions.

Also, I know books used to be a bit off, making it difficult (annoying) to translate your answers in old-school graphics, from enhanced.

Just some things to consider.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night and competed, and explored Ilshenar a little. It was nice to see so many familiar faces and new ones as well. I hope it gave a new look at how cool that region of the game is to some who may not be familiar with it. Its actually rife with rp possibilities.

Congrats tp Fawna, Cezanne, and Willow who placed first, second, and third respectively. I hope you thought my prizes were clever...and apt considering the actual competition!

Footwear? C'mon...

I love Ilshenar and since the Cabal may or may not spend a huge amount of time in that region I should of aced it. Shades lazy though, what no honorable mention?
