A letter sealed in wax with the letter “A” is left with the Innkeeper of the Sweet Dreams Inn and Tavern in the City of Britain addressed to Lord Rosar Ashande. The letter, handwritten in the finest Elvin script, reads:

Lord Rosar:

Memory serves me rarely now but as the days move on into years and the night bends itself to the bidding of others, your name stands out. I cannot recall where or when we met, be it in this life or another, but I do recall pleasant conversation that gave one pause to think.

Your name appeared to me in a dream recently. The dream told me I should contact you regarding a subject of some import. I have done so. But I beg you sir, to what end and regarding what subject I know not.

If you are inclined to meet with me to discuss this strange occurrence I would be most pleased. Leave word at this same Inn as to time and place and I shall endeavor to make myself available.

Sincerely,

Lady Avella Netha Isilian
Protectoress of Isilian Manor and
The Lands of the Danford Vale

An unsealed letter written in a simple script is left for Avella with innkeeper of Sweet Dreams.

Avella,

Thank you for your response.

Meet me tomorrow evening, Wednesday, at five hours past midday—the eastern hour. We will meet in Umbra, at the western bridge leading out of town.

I will echo the declaration I made to Shimakaze Ikura: as long as you and I speak peacefully, I will be counted as your accomplice. If they attempt to capture you, they must do the same to me. I will resist your capture as if they sought to detain me.

I know you do not fear Tokuno. Indeed, I agree that their warriors should not trouble you, for the greatest peril you face originates not from any earthly foe, but from within your own mind. This existence of yours cannot continue indefinitely. I see already by your failing memory that an end is coming, whether you desire it or not—a final death of the mind and of the soul, a far worse fate than destruction of the body. I do not offer salvation—I and my friends in Tokuno offer only the chance of starting along that path on your own.

Your friend,

Rosar
