In the deep purple shadows before dawn Lady Avella stands before a poster nailed to the gates of the city.

She smiles at the word “negotiations.”

“How does one negotiate with death?” She growls. “What have you that would interest me? You wanted me and now I have come. And now you wish to talk? But this name…” She lays a black claw on the word… “This name I have heard… this name is known to me.”

A riot of black thoughts burn through her brain. A memory struggles from the darkness and swims toward the surface like a drowning man.

“Rosar…yes… I know this man. But what is Zento to him? What salvation does he offer you that I cannot provide?”

In the distant hills the mournful howl of a Dire-Wolf drifts over the city. Avella snaps her head around and hisses.

Dawn approaches.
