The wake of the Magincian Forge splashed and spluttered along the tiny islands coast. Her brown hair catching on the breeze and trailing behind her, Meegan watched as Quentin pulled into port. He seemed to know what he was doing.
Not as good as Dylan, but oh well.
Her mind split on the task at hand of getting the ship back in one piece as well as the body of the pirate they had had to dispose of, she didn't bother to look toward shore for more than a glance. A glance was really all it should have taken but Meegan was prone to a lack of attention after 5 seconds. If that span had been larger than a fairy dragons baby nail she would have seen an over sized blue bug not so far off in the distance. As it stood, Meegan saw nothing but the ship until she was smack up against land.
"WHAT IN GODDESS NAME DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" Snapping her head to where it should have been directed prior, Meegan heard her first and then saw her. Soren Bishop, resident gypsy and blacksmith was screaming at her. Pulling her hair back and off to the side Meegan grinned slightly and slowly disembarked. Her steps were casual and laden with carelessness. She was not about to speed up to suit this woman.
She didn't have to for every bit of Soren's 5'4'' frame came stalking toward her, soft boots literally drilling the ground with every step. Perched behind her was a rather loud clicking and clacking. Meegan didn't speak beetle but she assumed it was angry the way the antennae kept twitching wildly.
"YOU HAVE ONE OF YOUR OWN! WHY DID YOU TAKE MINE?"
Toe to toe, hazel eyes against that of the sea swept storm color, the women stood. A smile crept across Meegans face as the woman continued. "MY SHIP MEEGAN CATES! NOT YOURS!"
"Untwist your panties. I just borrowed it." Calm and grinning, Meegan stuck her hip out and gestured to the sapphire hued structure behind them. "She's in one piece. Barely a nick on her." At least there wasn't after we repaired it. She wasn't about to divulge that detail, or the face that not all of the pirates blood had come up off the deck.
Liquid steel in her eyes, Soren railed at the flippant attitude before her. Meegan watched the fire come under the lid Soren had obviously practiced and failed at as she saw the woman breathe in and out. If Meegan didn't know better she would swear the little blacksmith was counting to ten. This was enough to make her bust out audibly laughing as she strode calmly away.
Sheer disbelief and anger seeped out of Soren in one high pitched squeal.
Halfway back to the Basilica it occurred to Meegan she might hear about this from Joanna later. Of course.. since Joanna had been with her, what was she going to say? |
