My eyes slowly crack open. A fog consumes my mind. Above me I see the ceiling of a cave. Moments pass before I realized what has happened, I wake once more. Almost instantly it hits, a thirst so terrible it claws at me from within. I can only wonder how long it has been, years? Decades? ...Longer? After a minute my eyes adjust after my long sleep and my mind slowly returns. Upon the edge of the coffin rests a sort of funnel now retracted, and my eyes wonder to a cut in shelf in the cave wall. Sitting upon it are several jars. I knew instantly what they were and their purpose. My thoughts now coming back to me, flowing slowly at first and gradually growing.

As I slowly sit up from within the coffin, my eyes are drawn to two figures, the first one kneeling beside the coffin in a long hooded robe, the other a woman standing some feet away staring blankly at the wall of the cave. Even though I could not see the figure kneeling, I knew it could only be but one person.

Gabriel... Why have you woken me...? I utter is a rasp dry tone.

Yes my Lord, the hour has come and so I awaken you as ordered. He replies keeping his head low

I close my eyes letting my blood return to me, my strength and memory flowing back within me. As my eyes open they slowly move to the woman.

Gabriel merely turns his head slightly to where the woman was standing. Come closer... It is alright. His head moves back and looks to the ground.

Slowly I stand, getting my bearings, and I step from the coffin. It only takes a few steps before I am standing in front of the woman. She appears in a sort of catatonic state and only stares with a blank expression into the distance.

I raise my arm, bringing my hand to her cheek. Running a finger along her jaw, I turn to Gabriel Well done... do it.

The moment I take a few steps to her side, Gabriel, in one fluid motion pulls a dagger from under his cloak and slices the neck of the woman. As his he does this, he continues the motion and with his free hand, grabs a fist full of her hair. And has she is not removed from her catatonic state she begins to gasp, attempting to scream yet no sound could be made. Gabriel quickly sheaths his dagger and reveals a chalice, bringing it to the womans neck and fills the cup with her blood. As she goes limp, Gabriel tosses the woman to the side and delivers the cup to me.

My eyes instantly erupt into their ice blue color as the smell of the blood reaches my nose. I extend a single hand, taking the chalice and bring it to my lips, savoring every last drop.

Rise Gabriel and tell me of the location you have found.

Gabriel stands, his hood hiding his eyes. My Lord, I have found a rift within the Gloom. It was well hidden, but when I stepped through I found myself in a nearly identical land. I believe this to be the best option.

Ineed... Closing my eyes I push my mind to sense the one closest to me. Yet, it seemed clouded... a moment later I realized why... she too rested in Torpor.

I close my eyes trying to focus my thoughts... A..d..a..r..a.. Pushing my thoughts further. I have risen... return to Carden and find me.

As I keep my eyes shut, trying to push my mind to her even in her current state, I speak to Gabriel. We shall return to Carden, soon she shall rise and meet us there.

Gabriel quickly bows his head and vanishes into the Gloom to scout ahead as I travel.

Before I finish, I push one last thought. It is time... the Coven shall awaken...

Floating amidst the darkness, her mind merely ebbing and flowing in a constant state of catatonicism. There are no thoughts of the future, no memories of haunting past, and lastly there is no present to bedraggle her spirit down with its woe, heartache, and pain. She just is.

Slowly, as if ascending forth from a cave lightness breaks past that barrier. Stretching into every crevice and fighting the abyss, seeking room to stretch its warmth. Every recess is enveloped in an attempt to bring her mind forth from the deep sleep.

It as if standing upon the precipice of a cliff, waiting for the fall. And then she jumps, her mental capacity reeling to consciousness as she awakens. Yet, she does not open her eyes yet merely expands her other senses trying to absorb the environment around her.

She is in a small space, confined yet not entirely stuffy as a cool breeze tickles against her bare skin. Washing away the staleness of her lungs as she forces air, once more, into her body. Slowly she opens her eyes, allowing them time to adjust.

Gradually she recognizes the growing signs of her overwhelming thirst. How long had it been since her last meal? She dare not attempt to count the days. She could feel the beast within her lurking beneath the surface. Growling in response as she tampered it down so as not to induce a frenzy within herself.

And beneath the hunger was a prickling sensation in the corner of her mind that dove to the depths of her very being. She jolted awake as a voice whispered inside her mind.

"Adara.."

A voice she had not heard since he left her that day.

Before I got to far, my Lord stopped me. Told me that I was to meet the Lady Draven. I quickly bowed to my creator and vanished. It was not long before once again I was in our former home of Carden. Desolate... abandoned... for some time now. I could not feel any living thing here now. So I made my way to the Draven Manor and waited for her.

In less than a days time she came. I quickly fell to a knee, bowing my head low.

My Lady Adara...

With a glance around she could sense that Lord Draven was not there.

Gabriel, where is Marcus?

My Lord left final instruction my Lady. He wishes to meet you in the city.

With a hint of annoyance toward Gabriel she asked. Anything else?

Lord Draven left a few simple instructions for myself, but that is all he wished for me to pass along to you.

Very well.. I will meet him within the City..

With that she turned and began her journey to the city. There was but one place that could be, Britain. I watched her until she vanished behind the trees. Taking once last glance around our former Haven, I vanished into the Gloom. In search of of the vampire Marcus told me of. The one who would help bring in a new era for the Coven...

She slinked through the rambling streets, movements graceful like those of a cat. This was the natural world in which she lived. The shadows called like a lover, wrapping her lithe frame in their dark embrace. They twisted beneath her nimble fingers, dancing to a tune she alone could hear. The ability to twist and manipulate the gloom was rare among her kind. Making the gift that much more of a blessing and a curse.

The sights and sounds of Britain fell away behind her as she gradually made her way to the north east part of town. Following that faint tendril pulling upon the chords of her heart. He was here, somewhere, hidden amongst the rabble and kine. And she vowed to find him at all costs. She paused mid-step, feeling that chord tremble as if stroked faintly by fingertips. Her eyes traveled up, tracing the invisible line, that bound her to him.

"The Wayfarer's Inn.." she whispered softly. So here it ended so here it shall begin once again. She barely registered her feet alighting upon the stairs as she glided to the very top to the second floor. He was here. She could feel his essence as clearly as if he had placed it in her hands. Like a bloodhound upon the scent she paused at the first doorway. Entire body shaking in anticipation of finally fulfilling her hearts inflamed desire.

She forced air into her lungs taking comfort in a habit that should have died centuries ago. She rapped upon the door, faintly, trying to compose her jittery nerves. Without waiting for a reply she crept cautiously through the doorway. It was as if no time had passed between them. There he was, in the flesh, his very being overwhelming all her senses. She took every inch in eyes roving hungrily over his handsome frame... the dark hair sweeping to shoulder, black eyes like that of depth less pools, the small curvature of his lips in that all too familiar smirk.

"Marcus.." she whispered, breaking the silence that hung between them.

"Adara..." eyes flickering to cold ice blue as he nimbly crossed the room. Her entire body quivered in response, aching to be held once more by the one who awakened her. His lips curved smiling down upon her.

"I have missed you so" he placed his hand upon her cheek, the floodgate of her emotions breaking forth. Her legs felt like jello, mind reeling from that small point of contact.

Everything that stretched between that great chasm between their time apart suddenly did not exist. He spoke of a rift between the worlds, a portal within the gloom in which they could travel forth into a new land. A new land offered a chance for rebirth, to fix and build upon the mistakes made in the past. And they would be strangers, faces in the crowd. No longer hunted and persecuted merely for being something they could not change. They would rebuild the House, hand in hand, slowly regaining the collection of loyal followers they once had.

One week.. the word stretched out in her head. That was all the time allotted to her before they would set forth to their new beginning. And this time she would not fail him. For to fail him was to fail herself.

Those of the Draven bloodline have gathered. One by one they came to East Britain and found me. At least, those worthy of remaining. All preparations have been made, we are ready to take the next step.

I look about the room, at my kin.

It is time... Looking over each of them.

We will follow Gabriel through the Gloom to this rift, upon stepping through we will have a great challenge upon us. To find a new Haven for ourselves. But with this will come a great gift. An entire world unknown to us, and therefore we are unknown to them.

By my side Adara smirks ever so slightly.

Alathea returns with a simple nod at my words.

Aen was the only one to speak.
We shall bring forth a Coven worthy of you my Lord.

Aen.. one of the first I had turned. A wise and powerful vampire, yet still to this day keeps a sort of calm about him.

I smile at the group and with a simple nod to Gabriel, he vanishes, one by one each of us then enter the Gloom... on our way to these new lands

It has taken longer than I expected to reach the rift, and as such taken its toll being in the Gloom for so long. It had been some time since I stepped within the world of shadows. As we neared the rift I could now help but gaze upon it. Wondering what our future would hold in these new, yet familiar, lands. One by one we stepped through, and it appeared as if we had gone nowhere. We still stood within Britain. Quickly we made our way, finding a secluded ally and re-entered back into the normal world.

I for one was happy to be out of it. I could sense it taking hold of me. Much longer and we would of been lost to it, with the exception of Adara and Gabriel, the rest of us have not harnessed a sort of understanding of the Gloom.

Only moments later we heard a number of screams only a few buildings away. Along with it could be heard metal clashing and stomping of feet. As we quietly made our way around the ally, Gabriel peered around
the corner. Looking for a few moments he looked back.

My Lord... a battle seems to of broken out... and... as I am sure you can sense.......... there are our kin in the battle..

My senses have weakened from the trip, but I could feel something was not right. I utter while trying to regain my strength.

Who do our kin fight? Adara said quickly.

I do not know m'Lady, only that they are human.

I turned to the others thinking only a moment yet knew what had to be done. We can not help them. Even if they are our kin, they are unknown to us and simply do not know enough to get involved.

The others quickly nodded in return. Yet still this was a most unusual sight. And many questions started to come to mind. I wished to know more.

Gabriel, go and watch. See as much as you can from the Gloom. Learn what you can from the humans and kin. When it is over return to me. We shall go to East Britain, you will find us at the Inn.

Yes, my Lord.. As he vanishes.

I turn to the rest. Let us make our way to the Inn. We have much to do and we should hurry.

With that we were now in the new lands. A myth long forgotten now realized by my Coven, the Gem of Immortality perhaps did exist after all. But we had more pressing matters. Who were these Vampires? And why were they locked into this battle with humans? Did the humans of this world have far greater knowledge of our kind? All this would have to wait, as I was to venture to the Britain Bank and transfer our vast fortune.

Soon enough we shall find a worthy home... soon enough we shall reveal ourselves in one aspect or another...

As the group turned to make their way to the inn, a hooded figure stepped from behind a nearby tree. Bowing his head slightly to Adara and Marcus, he began to speak in a voice they had not heard in some time.
"It's good to see you again, though I expected you a bit sooner. I'm sure you have questions and I probably have a few of the answers, but for now we should get off the street before someone decides to pull us into a fight that's not our own."

A smile crept over my face as I heard the voice. I suppose shock should of been a proper response, yet it was not. After all, I have come to expect nothing less from him.

Anfalas... A most pleasant surprise, come.

Without missing a step he joined us as we made our way into the Inn. We spoke in length on his more recent ventures. He revealed to me of this Coven fighting presently northwest of where we now stand. Surprise took hold as I listened. I could feel anger grow within Adara as she too listened, followed by a stream of obscenities flowing through her thoughts and into mine due to the blood bond I share with her. It was clear there was much of these new lands we must know of before taking any action.

Gabriel returned sometime later with most interesting news on what happened this night in the great city of Britain. He spoke of some object which appeared to be the focus of the battle. A battle leaving a wake of blood in the city.

With these new unexpected developments, it was obvious that we should leave until a time came it was safe for returning to the jewel of the Kingdom. It was decided we shall travel to lands forsaken by the Kingdom... to the lands of murderers and thieves.

---------- Weeks later ----------

I walked about the walled city of Trinsic, I noticed a somber attitude. One that could be fixed with a most excellent profit. Deals recently made procured a good amount of lands to the south. In which lay ruins to a once glorious castle, and with the help of nearly a hundred masons, carpenters, and tailors, the castle has been restored.

Soon invitations shall be spread through the lands for a grand opening to our trading company. A funny notion that dozens of notable humans shall attend and break bread with a new unknown vampire Coven.
