The Vampiric Order requests your assistance in transporting precious cargo from Vesper to Britain. We expect resistance or possibility of sabotage and will be providing our armada for escort. Your men will be compensated greatly for the risk they will be undertaking for nothing stays a secret long and we expect this voyage to be nothing different. Send word of your acceptance or decline of our offer for we wish to set sail at 8pm on the 23rd of February.

Thraxas' raven courier delivers the following letter in reply:

"Greetings Friend,

While I am glad you have seen fit to include us in your enterprise, you may labor under a slight misunderstanding as to the nature of the Maritime Union and our activities. We are not a military organization of any kind, though we do have a contingent of volunteer soldiery who guard our own materials in transit, and our persons in public. Now, should you become a member of the Union, that contingent, and others, might gladly offer such aid or be placed at your disposal. As it stands, I am in no position to respond either yea or nay, even if I wished to.

However, and as you have said, secrets are not easily kept and much less so when spoken by a means, like this, which goes back and forth over time. Therefore, allow me to prevail upon you to meet with me in person so we may discuss this in detail. To that end, I humbly extend to you an invitation to meet with me at my castle at your convenience. I am prepared to meet you at any hour of your choosing to speak on this matter, day or night.
