Return of The Wayward Stoic... pt1
Deacon sat silent and still as they made their way through the thick fog, intently staring off into the "unseen". For weeks on end he had contemplated his return and with Britannia only a few days travel away his mind was flooded with thoughts of the past and doubts of the future. He rose from his statuesque pose and began to pace up and down the bow of the ship speaking to himself in what can only be described as a combination of English and Elven until the day retired to a clear starry night. After some time Deacon slowly made his way to the helm of the ship taking the wheel and relieving the helmsmen of his duties for the night.
As they cut through the moonlit waters Deacon took a long deep breath, looked up at the stars and slowly turned the wheel over. He had become completely lost in thought and didn't notice his shadow wisp and oldest friend approaching until he was resting at his shoulder. Deacon didn't bother looking back he already knew what he had come to ask. "Yes, Silverline". Deacon whispered. "We're headed home". The wisp fluttered and twitched in excitement as Deacon straightened the ship out, re-aligning it with the brightest star in the sky....
As the sun began to rise Deacon realized how exhausted he had become and made his way down to the sleeping quarters passing several members of the crew as they scowled at the wisp. The ships crew had come to view Silverline as bad luck, claiming that only the damned could control and converse with such creatures and the sooner they were rid of it the better. This of course was of little concern, no one on board could pose any real threat and they weren't there to make friends, they valued each others company which was more than enough for both of them. As Deacon slowly layed down onto the undersized bed and began drifting off to sleep, Silverline twinkled in the darkness of the room leaving the walls glowing a light blue. Deacon lets out a long drawn sigh as he timidly closes his eyes. "We're not home yet, a lot can happen in a few days". "Stay alert I'd like to make it home in one piece" Deacon mumbled, as he slipped into unconsciousness...
