Lloth stormed into Her chambers after another horrid meeting with Her forced ally, Ares. If She hadn’t had plans for Her daughter, Kal’iksix, She would have allowed that vampire to kill and turn her. Mixed breeding with a vampire? She still could not understand how such breeding could result in a superior race.
“No one is more superior to my drow children!” Lloth growled as She threw and kicked various things around the room.
Lloth collapsed on Her throne and began thinking. She had thought that cursing Kal’iksix with twin vampire half-breeds, that the drow and vampire tempers would have either killed the children or Kal’iksix or all three, but that damnable Ares had seen to their survival as a gift to His prince, Ian. Since Ian was cursed with only being able to reproduce every one hundred years, Ares allowed him to not only sire one child with the Matron, but three with one set of twins.
Lloth observed the half-breeds on a daily basis through Her scrying ball. No matter how much She despised the idea, the children were quite impressive. Kor’inth excelled in her weapon skills and was the best protector of her father. Choosing Ian over Kal’iksix irked the Spider Queen but overall, She was pleased with Kor’inth’s strength and maturity. Xunafein was to be a strong warrior for both his parents. He, unlike his older sister, embraced the magical talents but also mastered weaponry. Rhylcice was destined to be the cold blooded killer of the three, just like her mother initially was for the Viaxus house. Rhylcice was quiet and a fast learner. Lloth knew that the quiet ones were always the deadly ones. Kal’iksix’s twin sister, Zul'ixiva was the quiet one, but Kal’iksix proved to be the stronger of the two when she slaughtered her sister during a communing ceremony. That was when Lloth realized that Kal’iksix would be a powerful matron.
Re-directing Her ball to Kal’iksix, Lloth observed the meeting of Her daughter with Her former Patron, Drayden. She was shocked to see that Kal’iksix was not skinning Drayden for his traitorous ways. In fact, Lloth recognized the strong attraction and tension returning in both Kal’iksix and Drayden. Even though Drayden had turned his back on Lloth after all She granted upon him at his request, She was impressed with his attitude and confidence he portrayed before Her daughter since becoming a high male for Her son, Vhaerun. An evil smirk crept across her face as an idea developed in her wicked mind.
"VHAERUN, I WISH TO SPEAK TO YOU AT ONCE!” Lloth summoned telepathically to her son.
“They are so perfect for what I have planned,” Lloth laughed wickedly.
Her scrying ball then turned to Drayden and She observed him drawing up papers for land. She was able to see Kal’iksix’s name on them. Seeing an opportunity, Lloth cast a sleeping spell on the messenger. Lloth fashioned a plaster casting of the mask, similar to the one Vhaerun wears but made it appear that it was snapped in two. She slipped this plaster piece into the case containing the scrolls and then woke the messenger. Unaware of what happened, the messenger continued on his way to the Shinduago Charnnagen.
“Time to see what the children are made of,” Lloth laughed sadistically as she settled on her throne awaiting the arrival of her son. |
