Walking down a line of Atalan infantry in formation in front of the Shrine of Kaane, Asimov is interrupted by a scrawny human messenger boy racing up from the western tower. Taking the note from the boy, the Bloodroot waved him away.

"It seems each and every vampire seeks to meet with us," Asimov noted to Trillin. "Send word to this Vitoria that she too may meet with us at Tavern tomorrow evening. If that is...unacceptable to her...then she may find us here immediately after we depart from the tavern festivities."

Seeing that Trillin had understood his orders, Asimov turned back to the men behind them. Seeing the pain and rage in their eyes was the only indication the Bloodroot needed to know they were more than ready for what was to come.
