Beads of truth perspire upon the heathen's brow.

Seraphic voice softly condemning.

"Forsaken vows demand fair pennance. Templar of death, thy sword strikes sins thine own."

There are moments in time that should never exist. This was one of those moments.

"We meet again." His voice far more steady than his steps, Kaylor approached the awaiting avenger.

She smiled without pleasantry. "Unfortunately, yes."

"What brings you this time? I've not begged forgiveness nor have I sought counsel."

"And therein lies the answer to your question."

"The Black Knight." Realization clawed malevolently at the core of his being. "Of course heaven holds ill regard for a man whose solution to potential destruction matches not its holy ideals."

"Kaylor," she whispered, raising a hand to hover it over his breastplate. "Your heart beats in contrast to your soul. Silent anguish surrenders to its ebon opposition. Heaven is aware of that which you refuse to acknowledge. As before son of Faerwhynne, I stand not in judgment, but serve merely as an envoy in deliverance of His will.

"Get on with it then," he scowled in demand. "Continued conversation is pointless. His will be done!"

Incandescent blue flames instantly engulfed him. They bore no heat beyond the penetrating words sealing their providence upon the winds of his tomorrows . . .

The suffering pain of each innocent's death shall hereafter be shared by he who wields the blade.
